OES Rescue in Northern VA

Does anyone know of any OES rescue contacts near Leesburg VA? Typically what is the process of putting a dog up for adoption?

I'm sorry you need to rehome your OES. Belinda with Tarheel OES Rescue and Tracie DiPasquale with New England OES Rescue are the contacts for Virginia.

Each rescue can be a little different so it's best to call or email both of them. You usually contact the rescue to see if they can assist. Share as much information as you can about your dog... it will help them to select a good home. Also provide a copy of the dog's medical records so the new family will have them (it can help prevent over-vaccination too). The owner signs a surrender paper giving ownership to the rescue. Most dogs are fostered for a while so the rescue can get to know the dog before rehoming him/her. A good rescue will be there to help the adopting family along the way as both the dog and family settle in... they will answer questions and share advice. And if by chance the match doesn't work, a good rescue will be there to take the dog back into their program for the life of the dog... just like a good breeder. Speaking of which, have you tried to contact the breeder to see if they might be able to help?

But again, all rescues are different so you need to talk to them.
Best wishes to you and your dog.

Anyone know if this sheepie was rescued?? THX
Hi All,
I was inquiring about rescue contacts, Harry is doing fine, have not decided yet whether or not to put him up for adoption. He is a wonderful dog, he is just not the right dog for my wife. She is had a sheepie when you was growing up and had found memories she is not that much of a dog person. Everyone loves Harry he gets a little ruff with the little ones outside just doesn't know his size he is about 8 months 75-80lbs.

Didn't want any one to be concerned Harry fine for now just trying to decide the best thing for Harry and my Wife as she is the one who spends the most time with him :)
I am hoping everything works out for your sheepie It is such a hard decision to make Maybe your wife could take him to training and they would bond more.
Please know that if it doesn't work out for your family and Harry, there will be a loving home for him. Sheepies, especially puppies, can be a challenge but there are many, many folks here who will provide and/or find a very good home for him.
Hi All,
justed wanted to give an update on Harry. Harry has turned into an awsome dog, is getting along with Kids great, they all love him. He is a lot better about knocking over the little ones and has become quite gentle. He follows kids all around the yard and has become their protector. He will be 2 this July. I am writing this to give other who are having some early issues with there OES that it does get better and not to give up on them to early.

Cheers

Thanks for letting us know!
I am so glad it worked out. And thank you SO much for coming back and telling us how it worked out. We have so many posts here where we don't get to know the outcome and you always wonder a little.

You are so right about sheepies. You cannot give up early. There's so much growing up for them to do.

I am so happy for you, your family, and your special sheepie.
