You can teach an old dog new tricks -Winston's 1st CPE trial

Last year at Sheepiepalooza, Winston and I were introduced to the addiction called agility. He seemed to have a great time on the course - so after getting him checked by our vet (he is turning nine years old this year) and some training, we enteretd our first CPE trial last weekend!!! We had one great run that we qualified in :D and three runs I would like to forget  - - -but it was so awesome to see my old guy out there. I am so proud of him.

Here are a couple of pictures from our run:

Congratulations on your Qualifying run. :high5:

The pictures are really good.

Winston is such an inspiration starting agility at nine years old. Good for you Stephanie for taking him to do something he loves to do even though he is older. Plus you started therapy just a little over a year ago. You guys stand as such an example of how much dogs can do throughout their life.
AWESOME!
    I am in AWE of both of you!!! You, for deciding that, even though Winney is NOT a young pup~~he can learn new and exciting things!!! (I am sure you can see it in his face , the new bounce in his step ) And for Winston..for taking the plunge!!!! You both are an inspiration to all of us!!!!!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :rimshot: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Thanks for FINALLY posting!!!!! :D :D :D :D

We had such fun - 2 OES competing at the same trial. We messed with at least one person's mind....knowing they were "after the OES" and then finding there were 2 running. :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
She came up to where we were crated (near the start line and the heat source for the building!) and let us know that seeing 2 OES was something unusual :D

Winston acted more like a Winnie and was so darn happy to be out there. I'm sure no one would have believed he was the senior citizen

So when are you entering again???
Congratulations!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple:

Loved the photos.
Thanks for all of the nice comments everyone! I don't know if we will be competing again anytime soon - - maybe trials here in town ---I don't want to push him and injure him. Plus he has a couple of behaviors outside of the ring that I let slide over the years that are catching up to me on the agility course. Honestly, he has just as much fun in class and it is a more controlled and less stressful situation for him. We will see.

My addiction to agility does not end though.... Little Paislee has really taken a shine it and I think I will focus on competing with her instead.
Ahhhh, yes...the addiction. If you love your dog, and yes we all do, the joy written on their faces as they are running through a course, keeps us coming back.

I'm going through withdrawal...on the injured sidelines
