We got a dog walker!

We decided it was time to get a dog walker now that Rudie is more active. My good friend works for a dog walking company, so it's a company we can trust. They came over tonight for a meet and greet and they were very nice, and Marley looved the dog walker. He is going to start tomorrow and walk them once a week.

Woohoo, I'm really excited! I already plan on making him cookies for next week!

Are they walked based on distance walked, or time spent out with them?
Just curious!

Sounds good. Is once a week enough? :D
My neice works as a dog walker. She's gotten so many clients that she's had to turn people away. She does more than just walk. Some of her dogs she visits daily to walk & play in the yard, some just once a week. She's got one place she goes to every evening to feed the dogs because the owner works an odd shift so she comes to hang with his dogs a bit each evening. She's even stayed weekends at some of their houses to doggie sit while they get away for a bit. Believe it or not she makes very good money. She's busy from 6am to 8pm most days. and best of all.... SHE LOVES IT. She says she's never been more satisfied.
ooooh, i wish we had one. Would save me so much time!!! I just don't trust people with my pup since I know Mequpak would run away if someone let go. Yuki would just grab the leash and put it back in your hand
A reliable dogwalker is a wonderful help. I trust my dogwalker so much that she is actually the emergency backup contact for the dogs at the Vets and she's authorized to make whatever decisions they may need regarding their care. She's amazing. But there are plenty I would not trust. It is worth checking references, seeing them interact with the dogs, etc. You have to screen them like you would a nanny or babysitter for kids.
It's a 25 minute walk, $17 for two dogs. We're doing once a week right now to make sure they like it and also because Dave's schedule changed temporarily and he gets home at 3pm and can give them a big walk then. On Friday's he works a long day and we both get home at 5:30, so we're doing the walk that day. Eventually I would like to have them walked once a week and have them go to daycare once a week too, but that will be in a few months when we have some money to spare. Daycare is sooo expensive, but it will be really good for new energetic Rudie.

I'm so excited for them today, I feel like such a nerd!
My friend Laura has a dog walker for her 2 bassets. Laura is a nurse too, single, and works 12 hr shifts. She has her dogs walked once during the day on the days she works. Sheila also feeds them breakfast.

She just interviewed a new walker - and they are going to swap dog walking. She lives about 5 minutes from Laura - they both are nurses at the same hospital. They are going to exchange walking each other's dogs on their days off - so no money paid out by either. I think that is a fun idea!
oooh, that's awesome!
Just got a call from the dog walker....

Rudie knocked over the coat rack (he does this daily) and got into the cabinet and opened up the plastic treat container (the kind with the metal latches, hes such a smart boy). He asked if he should still give them treats. I'm almost positive the container was empty, but good first impression anyway?

He seemed pretty calm especially through all the barking. Should've had cookies ready for this visit!
Is this his first meeting with Rudie... LOL...
