Frankies Swim Therapy

Frankie had his first swim therapy session last night. He caught on really quick. The vet said he did really good for his first time. He was supposed to be really tired afterwards. Nope...... He came in the house played tug of war with Troy then went outside and ran around like a crazy man. Then it was bed time. Next session is Thursday night.
We wanted to share the pictures. It is a really neat concept. An underwater treadmill.
We joked around about how they should have a treadmill for the puppy parents. So we could all work out together.

Awwww Frankie!!!! :aww: :aww: :aww: You are such a cutie!!! Keep working and hoping you will be feeling better in no time!!!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Such a cute pic.
Looks like a fluffy fish looking out of his fish tank. :D
They are great. We have one at the facility I teach at - a rehab pool too, just for dogs!

I think it's great you are doing this. It will help build up his muscles, and also he gets to do something fun :D And the low impact plus resistance of the water is the best thing available for getting him stronger to support his poor joints.
Reminds me of when we were all watching online while Chum went through rehab.
She enjoyed it too.
Did he try drinking the water?

You go Frankie--cute fella! :clappurple:
No
Frankie didn't try to drink it. It made him smell funny though. I think she said it was Bromine water( and I'm sure I'm not spelling it correctly) I think it had salt in it or something

Good boy Frankie!!!
That is terrific! :D :D :D
Lisa, just catching up on your post. Hydrotherapy is awesome! Our Oliver did it twice a week for about 6 months. We were able to even the muscle mass on his rear legs, and build up enough muscle/strength to discontinue Oliver's pain meds. As Oliver built up strength, the vet eventually gave us at home exercises to do to replace the hydrotherapy.

I think it's great that your doing this! It really helped Oliver's hips, hopefully it will benefit Frankie as well!
Will Frankie get to continue this in light of his recent medical finding......the trachea?
Actually he went last night. Our vet said he shouldn't swim because they gulp water and that will cause him to choke, but he doesn't drink this water. After talking to the pt who is a vet made me feel a little bit better about things. We'll know more Thursday.
