What to do???

Hi,
Here is my Dilemna... Pepsi looks so cute with his coat growing in...
Problem even with grooming done on a daily basis he has managed to develop mats behind his ears from his wonderful brother play chewing on his neck.
I am planning on taking him in for grooming tomorrow because no matter how much I try I cannot get the yellow off of his legs from when he had urinated on himself in the shelter before I got him. So I want to at least cut the hair to remove that. I guess if the can't get the mats out they will shave him down.
Any suggestion for hair cuts??? I would also like to get his face somewhat short too for the same yellow reason... but would rather not have to look at a completely shaved OES...
Also is it true their coats come in thicker each time you shave them down... That is what one groomer said.

Have you tried any cowboy magic?? It works great on keeping mats out. It leaves the hair silky soft and you can use it on dry hair. It also makes it very easy to comb through mats.

I've been using this stuff called Eye Envy Tear stain remover. It works on tear, beard, and urine stains also. I have seen a difference with my baby's beard stains. Go to their web site and look at some of the before and after pics.
I have no suggestions on a haircut since my guy is in full coat. But on the stains, have you tried a whitening shampoo? I was pointed in that direction, left it on for 15 minutes, rinsed and it worked well (even around his chin).

I know that some owners will actually "bleach" the whites. There is some mixture of hydrogen peroxide, milk of magnesia and I believe corn starch. Left on for a certain duration of time this will remove most stains. (Others will have to provide more info on the proportions and/or ingredients).
Hannah,
I have been using a detangler. But as soon as I get one mat out there is another due to the chewing on the neck.
El Gato & Hannah,
I have used Gold Medal Bluing Shampoo. On 4 seperate occassions...
No help on the legs. It did help with his face quite a bit...
Maybe just best to start from scratch?
Hi Pepsi's mom.

I just went through something similar. My Pirate was in full coat, and beautifully kept. Then we got our little rascal, Keira from save a pet. She's almost 5 months old (not an oes) and is teething. Her favorite place to teeth is Pirate.

She had chewed under his chin so badly, that it felt like knotted rope!!! And, quite frankly, he doesn't seem to mind.

So I took him to the groomer this week. His neck and part of his chin was shave (to get rid of the mats), and his face fur was cut, so he almost looks like he has muttonchop sideburns. I have the rest of him cut down to about 1 1/2 inches all over.

He looks wonderful!!!! He fur is so soft. Apparently the winter had taken it toll on his fur and really dried it out.

This style is really cute, and works well for Pirate. He's such a studdly boy!

Deborah,
Do you have a picture of Pirate's Haircut?
I'd love to see it...

He just had it done Wednesday, so no. But I'll take some this weekend. He's precious!
