Adventures of Agility Gerl

Tiggy has convince me to let her take over the computer to keep you up to date on her adventures as Agility Gerl. I think this is your fault Dawn, she was reading over my shoulder and saw your request for weekly updates.

Hi All, well tonight was the orientation night at the Agility Dog Club of Victoria. But there is a serious problem..........I was NOT invited. :cow: What is going on?? What is the point of the two legged agility assistant going to an orientation night without me?? I was not there to meet and greet all the other dogs and their agility assistants, how will anyone be impressed when the bestest and most important part of the team is absent???

But it gets more confusing. The two legged agility assistant, from now on referred to as the AA for expedience sake (hey its hard typing with these big paws you know), has come home all fired up with focus exercises. Pathooie, to focus I say!! Why would I want to spend my time looking at her!? I know what she looks like already for Pete's sake. I'm more interested in watching the cat when I'm at home (I like to wait till he's not looking and squash him, hee, hee) or checking out the talent when I'm out. I overheard the AA telling my Dad about a very handsome dalmatian who is in the beginners group, now that's who I'll be focussing on!! :go: I only focus on the AA when I need some assistance, you know a bit peckish and needing a yummy treat, that kind of thing.

From evesdropping I have discovered that much of the beginners class is about building a bond to promote great team work and not lots about the obstacles till the proper Agility people (aka us dogs) can work properly off lead. Well I already work really good off lead! I'm great at spotting other dogs and running after them and barking, I chase a squeaky ball and catch the little sucker and then I pretend to bring it back to the AA. Hah, you should see it she gets really happy looking, and then I veer off at the last minute and take the squeaky ball a good 8 feet or so back behind her and leave it there. Well I figure she needs to feel useful, as that's what assistants are for, to assist, you know stuff like fetch and hold the treats (they have useful things called hands and treat pouches especially for this purpose)

So all in all I'm not sure about the agility thing at the moment. It sounds a bit not for me really. I mean I know I like the tunnel and the jumps and stuff and I can even put up with the teeter if I have to but I dont really know about all this focus stuff and coming back straight away when I'm called just sounds plain boring. I mean how am I supposed to have fun if I have to come straight back???

Anyway next Friday is Easter so there is no agility class. I'll be keeping an eye out for the Easter Bunny in the hopes that I can catch him unawares and squash him too. So I'll wait till after the first class in 2 weeks and let you know how its going.

Bye now and Happy Easter, luv Tiggy, Agility Gerl. :roses:

Tiggy-Sweetie!!!

I know eactly what you mean about the AA's..they are a funny bunch aren't they? We are in the same boat with this Agility thingy..I am just starting out too and I just don't get why I can't just play on the toys and why the AA keeps yelling "PAUSE" and 2 on 2 off""???? :?: :?:
Two WHAT on and Two WHAT OFF of WHAT???????

You and me, need to keep our wits about us or the AA's will have us running in circles.... :headbang: :headbang:

Thanks for the heads up~~I think we are going to our second class on Saturday..that will be VERY interesting, to say the least!!!

Thanks Tiggy - and you did great manuevering those OES paws through the keyboard!

Sorry you feel left out. Chewie said to tell you it will get more fun. Also that going with the AA to class will drive Rastus nuts! Half the fun is getting to be the "chosen one" and getting to leave the others (dogs, cat) at home.
