I've had two sessions with a physical therapist with many more to come. Focus:stretching and massage. I've heard about acupuncture, some say it works, some say its a bandaid. I went to see Dr. Jin this morning ![]() In go the needles, not 'really" pain but not comfortable either. Relax he says, those will be in for half an hour. No difference yet. Two sessions a week, $75.00 a session, cash. My insurance does not pay, I checked yesterday. Lets hope the bandaid works!!!! |

I'll be interested to hear your results. I've had sciatica issues off and on for a decade. A friend of mine does as well and had the surgery to fix the bulging disk pinching the sciatic nerve, and has had major complications since, and it's been a year this month since the surgery. Have you had a CT scan of your spine yet? |
I have had flareups with my sciatica from time to time and I can't imagine having that pain on a constant basis!!! You poor thing!! I have heard that acupuncture does work...hopefully you will have some relief very soon....keep us posted!!! Good luck!!!! ![]() ![]() |
Good luck with that. I would try it too ![]() I will say, Todd tried the drugs (legal - that sounds bad), PT, even the steroid block injhections with his 1st big flare up. His CT showed discs of a 50 year old (he was early 30's) and dried up discs, primarily from heavy smoking since a teen. ![]() He eventually had surgery and has been good for 10 years+, just the one bad flareup earlier this year. Hope yours gets better!! |
Does your insurance cover any chiropractic? How about physical therapy with traction? The all-out assault of heat, massage, stretching, nerve stimulation and muscle relaxants and NSAID and Tylenol all at once followed by the light traction..... I found relief from acute back-throwing-out-with-sciatica by dangling my legs and consciously relaxing my back while holding myself up in an inside corner of my kitchen countertops. I guess it was a little home-grown traction. I wish you luck in finding a little bit of relief from that awful nagging and debilitating pain. |
i had the same thing i could not walk after 3 session i felt 1000 times better make sure that they really know their stuff like mine did |
Good luck with the acupuncture, I hope it helps you.![]() Acupuncture has a good reputation for helping settle pain, including neuralgias like sciatica, but like anything else it doesnt work for everyone so unfortunately you have to pay the dollars and give it a try. |
