Trouble

I was down in the basement practicing with Simon on healing, sitting when I stop and automatic down when I say and the weave poles are down there so I thought I would take him through those a few times.

He used to like the weaves...seems he changed his mind. I have wires on mine and that has worked well. Until now.

He went through two and jumped the wire. We started again with me VERY close...he jumped the wire. Started again and he went to jump the wire and I stopped him so he decided to plow his way through. See if you plow your way through you drag the poles behind you. That scared him and now he won't go near nor try the poles again.

I asked my future agility instructor what to do. She said to keep the poles up but ignore them for a while.

Hopefully soon we will be able to set them up outside so we have more room. I think that may be part of the problem.

It is. Don't sweat it. Che does this at least once a week :roll:

I am so looking forward to getting the equipment back outside!!!

Yeah, but Che is not Simon. Once he makes up his mind that he's scared of something it hard to change it back again. Teeter comes to mind. That was months of hard work.

True. But the teeter is a lot scarier than being chased by some poles :lol: :lol:

Feed him next to them but don't look at them or ask him to do them. Just do that for a while. Then, if you have channels by chance, open them up and make it real easy and use some leftover steak or something to remind him that he loooooves weaves. You can even wait till it's decent enough to take them outside and then re-introduce him to them there.

One thing you need to not do is worry about it.

Boy dogs! :roll: :lol: :lol:

Oh face it boy dogs are wooses. We had to feed B on with jump bars on his food for two weeks to get him over knocking over (and destroying) the instructors tire jump. Marley knocked it over about a dozen times and went right back to it and tried again everytime.

But luckily, most fear is overcome by food with them ;)

My boy Jake was NOT a wuss. He was the biggest, baddest, boldest, bravest protector who despite severe hip dysplasia only yelped twice in his entire life, both times from doing splits on the kitchen floor. Including when he went to jump a stone wall at full speed and missed crashing his forelegs into the sharp edge with a sickening thud. He also tolerated the hat and bandana and adoration of his mother.

<----===<<< see outfit.

Never dis my boy Jake. ;)
Well there always has to be an exception to prove the rule, right. :D
