glad this is a new week

Hope everyone had a good week I had quite the adventure to say the least. Monday was off due to snow so I went snow boarding in the a.m., dentist in the afternoon, finished my project for school and tended to Obe in the evening. Tuesday I worked pretty uneventful. Wednesday I was robbed. Someone stole my lunch box, before lunch to beat it all. Not only did they take my lunch but my wallet, two cell phones (personal & work), keys to all work equipment, doors, etc. Took the rest of the day off to go to the different banks I have accounts at, cancel credit cards, go get old phone reactivated so I at least have one to use. Thursday take off to go to the DMV to get another license. Then went and purchased a new phone because old one I had activated would only stay charged for a few minutes then starts beeping at me, low battery. Friday morning getting breakfast telling a friend about what happened and he could not believe it. Most people could not believe that someone would still a lunch box from a persons front porch. But it was gone looked everywhere around home in the woods etc.

Saturday morning a couple pulls into the driveway with my lunch box, all contents untouched everything accounted for including the lunch. Not only did they bring the lunch box but also the culprit. A big yellow lab who has a habit of taking items, does not chew them or destroy them just thinks... looks like that item should be mine and it is. The lady found it in their backyard Saturday morning. Funnier thing, it was the friend and his wife who I talked to in the store on Friday morning while getting breakfast. They lived behind the house and down a little bit from where I was working. Had to laugh even though missed a day and half of work, spent money on new phone, and have to wait for all new cards to come in the mail including drivers license. What can you do but laugh. Cannot believe dog did not eat the lunch or lose any of the contents.

Glad you are laughing about it and good thing the dog didn't eat your homework as you know NOBODY would have believed that! On a positive note you now have a story to tell the grandkids some day as it is indeed not only hilarious but memorable.

Cheers!
Marianne
oh boy, that is wild. have a friend in carmel,ca who's dog has a note written on his life vest. "don't be fooled by my cute face, i am a klepto."
although it's just a game for attention, likes people to chase him. if someone becomes upset, he drops their goods. :rimshot:
Ooooh you have to laugh about the robbery darn that Lab  Amazing he did not eat the lunch as labs are GOOD on the fang. 8O

Hoping all the new cards etc arrive fast, imagine trying to explain that one to the card company now!!. :? So maybe easier since cancelling the others thinking an upright has taken the bootie to wait patiently for the replacements.

Sure beats my dog ate my homework 8)
I read your story to the whole family and we all cracked up! Wow, what a pain to deal with but I can just envision the lab taking the lunchbox and walking along with it in his mouth.

My husband is curious as to why the lunchbox was on the porch?
I can imagine how frustrating it was when it happened, but it is hysterical looking at it in hindsight!

Bet you won't keep everything together in one place when it's not in your sight any more!
lunch was on porch because co-worker took truck to empty. it was an hour drive to destination and hour back. already 11 a.m. so we got our lunches out to eat around noon. 99% of time i'm in my own work vehicle so lunch box is always inside truck. was helping out another crew that day.
Glad all turned out well.......if not frustrating. I'm sure the dog was very excited about its find.

When we were working on a big landscape job the guys kept losing their lunches , sunglasses, gloves, anything that was laid down just disappeared. Finally the culprit was caught trying to steal a shovel from the job site. Unfortunately Maggie the yellow lab had to drag the shovel and thus gave herself away. You know those labs, they'll retrieve anything.

Did you give the lab your lunch?/

My last siamese cat was a klepto. But he went in for socks and kids toys. Nothing as valuable as phones, wallets and ermm lunches. :D
oh, that's too funny. Glad it wasn't a serious burglar. Too bad you had to go through all the changing of stuff, though.
Oh man - what a week. I'm glad to know you don't have (human) theives in your neighborhood, though!

Our previous lab Tater was like that. When we were giving the sheep their annual shots and stuff, we had to lock him up. He took vials of medicine, syringes, the list......

Nothing was safe. As a pup he used to empty out Todd's garage with his fetch and carry obsession. I would come home and our yard looked like we were trailer trash people....
Well, labs are retrievers, right???? I'm glad you are safe and it wasn't a real thief, but I would still be annoyed at having to take time off to do all that running around. No cookies for that dog!!!
