What are you listening to lately?

I'm bored and making new itunes playlists for my ipod so I thought I'd see what everyone is listening to lately.... maybe something new for me to listen to LOL

I currently am rotating between a few playlists, each one has 50 songs in it. One of them is all stuff from Grey's Anatomy soundtrack and includes stuff from The Weepies, Iron and Wine, Get Set Go (my favorite from them is I Hate Everyone), another one is for the gym and is a mix of current top songs (Kesha, Adam Lambert, Paramore, Rise Against, Tokio Hotel, The Faders), another is stuff I mostly like to listen to, 3 Days Grace, Shinedown, Lifehouse, Linkin Park, Hinder, Finger Eleven, The Fray, Hedley, ok so this list could go on forever.

I pretty much like every type of music with the exception of rap but even with that there are a couple of exceptions.

I must confess that there is nothing on my iPod later than the mid-80s. I have Benny Goodman from the 30s ("Sing Sing Sing"). The last songs I added were from the Beatles "Help!" album. Guess I'm a total square......
I'll go one further - no iPod or MP3 player at all.

But I can't listen to any music or TV at work, and I generally listen to a book on tape (CD) while driving, and the TV is on at home....
It took me a long time to give in to the MP3 thing  but, I find that I love being able to put together specific mixes for different purposes!

Right now, its my "frantic work mix" all stuff chosen to keep me moving and awake: Squirrel Nut Zippers, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Boiled in Lead, No Doubt, Nickleback, The Housemartins, and misc. individual songs by various artists. Yes, really odd combo, I know...oooh Get Set Go would be a good group to add to this mix, thanks Stacey!

I also have a "quiet" work mix, for when I'm doing actual creative work (as opposed to framing etc), with lots of Lorraina McKennit, Dar Williams, Indigo Girls, Anna Nilik, etc., and a "booth" mix that I play at the fairs. It was the booth music that convinced me to start doing this...I had put a Jimmy Buffet CD on in the booth one day, that I hadn't listened to in a long time, and was talking to a customer who had come in with several small children, when a certain song came on that is about...um...getting drunk and...you remember the one im talking about, right?
Today it's Silversun Pickups and Muse since I'm going to see them tomorrow. I haven't stopped listening to Lady Gaga since I saw her about a month ago so she pops up in the middle of everything. I've also been pulling out old Fischerspooner and enjoying it a lot again. I'm also shamefully addicted to Ke$ha's vapid lyrics and entrancing beats. Horrible and I love it, especially while I work out.

Otherwise, my playlists look like a crazy person made them. There's no flow to the styles. The one I was working out to yesterday had the Cramps, MSTRKRFT, Bauhaus, Lady Gaga, Chairlift, Junior Jack, Elvis Presley, And One, Joan Jett, The Kills, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Muse and Kelly Clarkson. My playlists are created by me thinking "Ooh, I want to hear that!" and I wind up trying to run to Bon Iver, which really doesn't work. I need to get better at themes.
When I work out, for sure my list has: Thrice, Breaking Benjamin, Stabbing Westward, Flo Rida, The Offspring, and Static-X.

But I also love Michael Buble, Jackson 5, My Chemical Romance, The Used, etc.

Lately, I've just been listening to Audio books though, almost done with Blindness.
This list^^^brings back a weird memory or two for me. I had an employee at one time, who's favorite groups were Stabbing Westward, and KMFDM. He'd have his music going in our studio, while my then studio partner, Mary, would have her music...think Albanian accordion gypsy music 8O ...going at the same time, from the other side of the room. They met up and clashed right at the table where I did my work. There were days, I just stood there and twitched! :twitch:

LOL. KMFDM+ Albanian accordian. What a great war!
I really need to get into this century, other than Elvis and a (very) few others I've never heard of these groups 8O . I am Motown and country all the way :D
Lately I have been listening to my old Kinks stuff since I saw Ray Davies perform last month. I have a lot of Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Drive By, Escape the Fate, All Time Low and Sparks on my ipod. I think I am going to need more memory soon. I have other stuff too, but since it is a shuffle...I don't always know what I am listening to.
'90s alternative/modern rock and AC/DC (the Bon Scott years).
I'm with Dawn, no iPod or MP3........and with Paula........I like the older stuff. I get ticked off at the radio station billing "Real Oldies" when their music starts with the 70's. 8O

I'm a fossil.
I pretty much always have Iron Maiden on. They are by far my favourite group :D
wow. I guess I am stuck in a rut. I listen to radio Margaritaville in the car - island, rock, reggae and folk music (heavy on the Jimmy Buffet).

I use my phone as an MP3 player and it has only Jimmy Buffet and Pink Martini - I really love their stuff.

I started mostly doing yoga for work outs so not so much crazy music there anymore. When I run - I turn the tv up :) :)
Love my Ipod touch. Just downloaded The Blindside movie. as for music - I have a mix - country, old rock, Michael Buble, cuban, latino, and oldies - Frank sinatra.... Different moods for different situations.

Yes! That is what I love about the 'genres' option.

I don't have nor want an ipod or MP3. Dh has one but I have no idea what he has on there...if anything.

NO COUNTRY IN THIS HOUSE...EVER!!! Neither one of us can stand it. For me it 70-80's rock on the radio.
