Excess Shedding on Front Legs

Hey Gang,
Lately I've been noticing a lot of hair in Curtis's brush whenever I brush his front legs. Any idea if this is normal or if there is some specific cause for this? I don't notice any excessive hair when I brush his face or body, just his legs.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Now you've got ME worried - what do you call "excessive"?

Woof is 9 month s old and we groom him pretty much on a daily basis. I use a bristle brush and tend to get at least 4 "brushfulls" of hair from him (I'm thinking we could stuff a pillow with it all...).
Mikeyg-
I'd say we're talking on the same lines as you. Whenever we brush (usually every other day, sometimes more, sometimes less) I get probably 4 brushes full of hair. I've just noticed that I often seem to get more hair from his legs than the rest of him. He doesn't seem to be getting any bald spots or anything like that, so I don't know that it's something to worry about, I just wonder how much other sheepies are shedding. Sounds like we've got some pretty typical OESs on our hands... at least fur-wise. Personality-wise, there's no body like my Curtis!
Missy, I'm sure you've probably told us, and I just missed it, but how old is Curtis now?

This exessive shedding could just be him loosing either his baby coat or his intermediate coat. Is the hair getting lighter in color where the exessive sheding is occuring?

I only ask because I had the same concerns with Max, first when he was about 10 months and he started to shed Alot, and again now that he is about 15 months. The vet told me to quit worring about it. It is natural for the OES to go through two full coat changes before they get their full adult coat. So Max has changed from black and white to dark gray and white, and is now changing again to an even more beautiful blueish gray and white coat.
Curtis is going on 8 months old. His fur is actually changing to a gray color on his hind legs, so I'll bet your right-on with this idea. Thanks so much for curbing my anxiety about his shedding!
