How long should I worry about Hudson?

He's doing great. Poops have been normal. The vet said we could put him on bland diet, but we were out of everything and decided to wait a day and there were no ill effects from the chicken breast debacle. The stinky gas has passed, and he's shown absolutely no evidence of trouble. We are cautiously optimistic.

The snakelike chicken swallowing took place Thursday at eight o'clock (ish). It's now nearly three full days later. Are we safe in thinking we're out of the woods? How long would it take for all to pass safely?

I assumed that it was the keel he got. I never opened the package myself, and now I'm wondering if it was just a chicken breast. (I often use the terms interchangeably...) If it wasn't a keel then the bones would be smaller and more likely to digest. I had been freaking out over the big solid bone a keel has.

Anyway, does anyone know how long it would take for all that to pass? Is it too early to be relieved? Should I keep on worrying?

I'm still not clear. Was it cooked?
Yes. It was a fully cooked piece of fried chicken. The dinner was in the refrigerated section of a grocery store deli.
Well, my sister's CKCS has had a couple of blockages (not from actual food - just things she thought were food) The last one and the only one I was down there for, took a week to diagnose.
hudson has had reg bm's since, it's been digested. stop the worrying.your out of the woods. think of the stereo, nice car. happy bday. :rimshot:
Until it is no longer fun.... :sidestep:

I'd say he's fine at this point... :D
Um...I know this is very, very gross...but, have you checked those poops for bones? Having lost a dog to a blockage, I have resorted to playing "poo detective" on other occasions when Ive suspected a problem  Once you know the problem has "passed", you'll feel better
When Wendel got into our garbage, he had consumed a cooked thigh and leg bone. Naturally, I panicked! I had been out of the house one hour and my blue-eyed devil decided that the garbage can was his treasure box.

I took him to my vet and she said that he would be fine. She gave me some pills to help ease along his GI tract. She said that he was a large dog and that dog's stomachs have a higher acid content than a humans.

After the nasty gas was gone, so was the chicken. Since Hudson ate a larger piece (I think?) I would think he was already out of the woods.

If you're still concerned, just call your vet. I'm sure they can let you know how much has been digested!
