Signed up

I've talked to my "NEW" trainer and Simon is signed up for CGC starting this coming Monday :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

In case you can't tell, I'm kinda excited. I think its because its something new in this LONG BORING winter.

I've talked to the trainer, this is the friend of my agility trainer, and we agreed since Simon has the basics and my work schedule that this will fit the bill. I also want to sit in an a few of her agility classes to see if that may also be worth a change. Its a sticky situation since the two trainers are friends.

But for now...WAHOOEEEEEEEEE

Just have fun and do what is best for you and SImon.

DOn't expect a lot of obedience from a CGC class. Morgan passed his at like 18 montsh as did B and they were both idiots at the time

Good Luck Simon!!!!

Why do you not expect obedience for a CGC???
8O

How does obedience not fit into that???

Hmmmm....
Looking at the paperwork

I can't imagine a dog without training would pass!
Sit/Stays/Downs/Recalls etc....

Marty teaches a CGC/Obedience class...

Anyway....Have tons of fun Simon and Momma!!!!! :cheer:
I said don't expect "a lot" of obedience out of a CGC class. It's obedience lite in my experience. Very limited distractions, very controlled situations and perfect obedience is never expected, its a good behavior class - yes, serious obedience - no.

Since the problem with Simon is around very high value agility set ups, the lowered expectations of the cgc (all on leash pretty much, all contrived set up encounters) will not answer the entire issue. It is a good place to start. As I said both our young boys have them - both passed with flying colors. Neither are totally under control in the agility arena.

As I think I said in an earlier post, my experience is the only way to get that kind of control is by working it as part of the agility class. I have that kind of control with Marely (who couldn't pass the three minute seperation in the past and doesn't have a cgc- yet) but I got that control working with a good overall instructor in agility class and now we are moving on to obedience.
Guess it is just a matter of location.
Anywhere we have trained in our
area CGC goes in conjunction with
pre novice, then to Novice Obedience.
