Rudy did us proud

Once again, my husband and I are in complete disagreement as to how much freedom our new guy can handle. Rudy's been nearly ten days without an accident in the house, but has been carefully supervised at all times (or crated) so I'm nowhere near thinking we've hit the finish line.

But dear hubby decided that when we went to a friend's house for dinner last night that Rudy should be free, in the bedroom, with Hudson.

The above was in blue just to see if I could do it.

Anyway, we were gone about three hours and I worried the entire time. It's a hobby of mine.

When we returned we found no accidents, no damage, just two dogs who did a yawn and stretch and headed out for a pee.

Good boy Rudy! That's hurdle number one (of many) towards more freedom when we're gone. Good job! :clappurple:

When we got Max a hundred years ago from the shelter, he was soo good. He had the freedom of the house pretty much from day one - until about three months later when we came home and found he had peed on th ecouch - not the sides of the couch. Apparently he stood on the couch and peed on all three cushions.

Did I mention it was a white couch?

He lived 10 more years ( regardless of what I might have threatended that day ) and was never let lose in the entire house again.

I still confine each dog to a room (nobody gets the living room)
Congrats! Sometimes you just need to take that gamble :D

Evil puppy Biscuit was another story. Yesterday am I left him out when I left for work at 0630. Mostly because I had a migraine and couldn't see bending over to get him up (he was sleeping like an angel on his dog bed), and I was sure Todd would be up soon. He usually is up, one of those disgusting morning people, really soon.

Turns out I was wrong. Todd slept in - until 0830. Biscuit had again got to the peanut butter on the counter and ate half the container. (3rd time - he apparently LOVES it). I don't, but Todd does and leaves it out next to the toaster for easy access. Easy access for HIS puppy too it seems!
He also moved around a few other things, but the garbage was safe......can't remember if the pop was on the lid or not....

He loves the little dog bed (pictures?? where are the pictures??) - as I posted earlier. He now decided it is portable and he moves it! Twice now he has grabbed it and brought it in the livingroom. I missed a great picture Friday evening - he had brought it in and was curled up in his little ball all packed in it!

On the other hand, he is really smart in class. I have brought him in and worked with him in the beginner class and he already heels w/ a loose lead on his martingale collar :) Not bad for 2 class sessions and not working on it at all at home! :clappurple:
And no accidents in the house in months (he is 10 months, got him at 6 months and he was an outdoor dog w/ no training at all).

Hope Rudy continues to adapt as well as he (Rudy) already has!! :D
