Lucky aka-The Dogfather-Head of the Sheepdog Mafia

When we picked him up in 2006 we had no idea how big of a part of our heart would be forever with him. He was suppose to be put to sleep on Tuesday in Alabama and we picked him up on the Sat prior. So actually according to Alabama he died in 2006. He became such a huge part of our lives and was ever so patient and looked after all the fosters that have come through our home. He even put up with a permanent brother and a brat little sister. He was my rock star. He went to Mardi Gras parades, loved kids, and loved candy corn and sweetheart conversation hearts. He also loved to eat wash clothes and throw them up on the one piece of carpet in the house.

Last year we had two tumors removed and then one of his back legs went. This past week when he could no longer stand up on his own it was time.

He is now pain free and at the Rainbow Bridge with so many others.

The Sheepdog Mafia will never be the same without him as the Dogfather.

Oh Wynette, I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
Wynn so sorry to hear of the loss of Lucky, bless your darling and know we are thinking of you at this sad time.

May memories flow forever as the sadness of having to say goodbye subsides a little.

Always hard and know we are thinking of you all at this sad time. Special man and always will be there as your guardian angel keeping an eye on you all. :ghug:
Oh Wyn so sorry - Knowing when to let go is always so hard.

I saw the title before I saw what forum it was in and I was excited to hear news of Lucky's latest adventures. Alas. I am so sorry for you loss but also gratified to know how you changed his life -- and how he changed yours. Lucky all around. His is an inspiring rescue story that will hopefully encourage others to do the same. I know you will miss him but the great memories will always live on.

Best,

Val

He was such a Lucky boy to have found his home with you these past years. I know he leaves a huge hole in your heart, but you have so many fun memories to bring a smile later. We know here that letting them go is both the hardest and yet the kindest thing we do for our Sheepie babes. :ghug:
Thank you for taking this boy into your home and heart. While we measure time, dogs don't. I'm sure each day he was with you and the rest of his family was the Best Day of His Life. It's hard now, but celebrate his life, I'm sure he is.

Wyn,
I'm so sorry to hear that my splash buddy went over the bridge. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time, as many of us know it is very painful when we must let go and the grief is sometimes overwhelming, and we also know that we will resurface after the grief in search of our next sheepie friend... I wish you well.
They leave such huge holes in our hearts don't they? I'm sorry for your loss.

Marianne
Wyn, We are so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to experience the loss of the most faithful of breeds. They truly become part of your soul. Our thoughts are with you.
