any computer gurus out there?

Okay I know for once kristine won't have a well thought out answer to my question

I managed to put the video card from my camera (obviously) in my DVD slot on my laptop - I have said it before- multi tasking is not my friend.

Is it possible to have it removed without destroying my DVD player (and the video card with all my WKC photos on it?

If no one else can help I'll ask my computer guru friend when I see him in a couple of hours and let you know. But it'll be about 7 hours before I'm back at my computer.
thanks. I emailed the tech guy from work - he's probably still laughing
my youngest asked whether you pushed it into slot or does your dvd player open?
if it's stuck, don't go prying w/tools.
;-)
its a slot and too late about the tools - my husband was sure he could get it out better than the tech guy
boy oh boy, guess my ex was right about those husbands.
;-)
well I just tested the dvd and it plays -of course I have no idea where the video card went with all those photos :lmt:
oh no! I'm sure it can be removed. Guess the question now will be how many pieces is your laptop in?? 8O
I am assuming it is a SDHC card? Only because I would think a CF card is too big to get lost in the drive. Do not use the drive until you find the missing memory card.

Is the laptop under warranty?

My DVD drive has a small open area, similar to "slice of pie," that would be small big for and SDHC to slip into and get lost. Have you looked in there?

I think the DVD drive is the only thing that hasn't been replaced on my computer, but I bet it isn't difficult to do...
My friend said it depends on the laptop.
Some you can take out more easily, some are inside the casing and its tricky, he hates doing it. Lots and lots of little screws. He said to look at the base of the laptop and see if there's any screws you can undo to get the dvd player out. But dont do it if its still under warranty, you'll void it.
I hate to say it but he's laughing too. :)
yes its under warranty and yes there are plenty of screws, but I know when I call Dell they will just tell me over the phone how to do it and I do prefer just having the tech guy do it - he finally got over his amusement and said he can look at it today.

Sorry. Sounds like something I'd do. If I knew what any of the things you're talking about were.

Kristine
Okay - poor little laptop just left for an "assessment" sounds like it won't be too hard to do. :crossed:

Its going to be a long night.....

Wayne's laptop has had repeated problems under warranty so its at the techs having a stress test. 8O :?

I thought humans had stress tests. I asked what a computer stress test was and Wayne did tell me but I'm afraid it went over my head, too much jargon. Good luck I hope it gets sorted.
