my boy Guinness is driving me crazier

Many of you know my boys saga. He has been going on 9 months post op from his hip surgeries. He has been restricted in one way or another, and has been receiving quite a bit of attention. Back and leg massages, PT extra love and treats etc. All done for medical reasons (well maybe psychological for me) He has been nothing but wonderful for the vets and PT folks. WELLLLLL he is being a big ol butt head!! He growls and snakes at the other dogs when they come near me. He stands on the porch when let out and nips at them and growls Sometimes it is nasty but no nasty fights I guess it is mostly huff and puff. He is now a terrible barker and barks and barks at the other dogs if they get on the sofa or bed next to me. I have shaken a can , squirted him in the face and am now doing NILIF He was such an adoring boy ,well behaved (well except for the rescue parade remember kristine  ) he was a certified therapy dog and was just the best (we dropped the certification because he can not do visits now) I know one problem is lack of exercise and well ...being spoiled. He is grumpy and rude. We still have a long way to go He is still lovable and when he gets in my lap and looks at me with those big brown eyes well I forget I want to put him into nitas rescue :):) He is just a pain Not for sure what I can do Maybe I just needed to vent. Another thing I know he has been through so much and so much pain, but he was so steadfast in any situation He is shaking when they put him on the underwater treadmill . He even shakes when we enter the center. His pulse rate shoots up. I am just worried sick. My poor sweet boy.

Thanks for listening

We are hanging in there What else can we do.? I think my behavior is off too!!! Thanks for asking. Guinness has been shaved in so many areas that we clipped my fuzzbutt down. This will all pass, but it is snowing again!!!!

Cindy
Cindy, you've been his life, his lifeline, his everything for a long time and through some really tough times. Yeah, part of his misbehaviour is because he's a wee bit spoilt. But there's also some insecurity there.

This too shall pass as things start to normalize for both of you.

In the mean time...?

My 12 year old is having fits because herding has been cancelled for several weeks now. She apparently thinks it's an evil plot. The perfect dog has taken to barking in my face, stomping on me to get me up in the morning and just generally being a BITCH.

She's 12. What can you do?

This too shall pass, this too shall pass. Split a case of merlot or are you more of a white wine kind of person???

Kristine
Poor Cindy, poor Guinness. :(

I am more than happy to be your venting board!
As mentioned, this too shall pass. Do your best to keep him mentally busy, and the rest will get sorted out when you are at a point to do more about it. Hang in there!
Poor Cindy and Guiness :(

I think he needs to come and see
Aunt Kathy! :P

Hang in there, I know your plate is full
but, you are a tough cookie!

BTW...My phone is right here in my reach...
I will not miss your call if you need to scream!
Kathy

Where is the nearest airport ???I have his airline crate all ready  Thanks for all the support. My GinnyGoo is plastered against me as I type,

Kristine

At this time...rubbing alcohol in cool aid would suffice 8O I like the pink stuff white zinfandel

I have to reschedule my knee replacement cancled due to blizzard and Bob is having his rotator cuff repair the 26th there is not enough wine in the world
You are right, he's bored, pent up energy. This will pass when he can start mobiling again. When he can be a full member of the dog pack again, he will mellow out. I urge Merlot and long, hot soaks for you too.
