Nascar

As I'm sitting here watching the Daytona 500 I was curious if there were
any Nascar fans out there?

Yep...every race...husband loves it and I let him have his time! Now I have grandaughter today to keep me occupied...much better for me! We used to go to races nearby but prefer to see them on TV...you actually see more of the race.
Not a fan of that but I love funny cars and the tv show Pinks. I crack up when someone loses their title, they almost cry :D
Begrudgingly. When I used to work as an EMT, all the other ambulance people watched Nascar. They physically made me watch it with them! They said to pick a driver and that would make it more interesting; gives you a vested interest. The first 2 cars I picked were vetoed because they were bad. So I looked at driver pictures and picked Dale Jr. because he was cute.
Now I'm mildly addicted. (And a little ashamed! )
Not a big fan of watching but have a few friends who race at the local race track who race stock cars. I remember going to a race and looking over the cars I asked, why are these tires bald!  Also had a friend who raced and got in a major accident. he was okay but they filmed the accident as an ad for the local race track!

Your favorites????
Used to watch.
Not so much anymore.
NASCAR has turned into the automotive equivalent of the WWE or WWF.
It's all about the driver's personalities now. The cars are secondary (or even tertiary).

I liked it much better in the old days when the cars were actually cars you could buy (albeit modified) and the drivers were quiet & humble. Guys like Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, and Cale Yarborough. These guys were truly great.

Now, with the Car Of Tomorrow (as they're called), there isn't one piece shared with the stock car that it's based on. They all use a common body differentiated by only stickers.
The current drivers act like selfish, immature clowns.
The rules seem to change yearly.

And don't even get me started with the inclusion of Toyota in the series.

So no. Not really a fan anymore.
