Chicken Divan Recipe-Just Devine!!!

4 chicken breasts

8 slices of bacon

package of broccolini

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 med. size container of sour cream(i use light)

italian bread crumbs

shredded cheddar cheese

curry powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder

put chicken breasts in a pyrex, lightly salt and pepper, cover each one with 2 slices of bacon and bake at 350 for about 35 minutes...

in a seperate bowl, mix the soup, sour cream, curry powder ( i add till the mixture turns a light yellow..about 3/4 of a tablespoon), lightly salt, pepper and garlic powder.

microwave broccolini till slightly cooked...

put broccolini on top of chicken, then add the wet mixture, sprinkle top with bread crumbs (not too heavy), then sprinkle grated cheese over the top....bake at 350 for another 20 min.

serve with mashed potatoes, using sauce as gravy...

brian actually REALLY likes this (and that is saying a LOT!) :D

Yummmmmm... great additions to a simple recipe I used. I am going to do it in the next week. I like fast. Daddy hates broccoli but I love it!
you can skip the broccoli all together and just do another veggie on the side...green beans or peas..
Would Dad eat asparagus?

Yummy Darcy, thanks.
Sounds good, I'm going to try it next week.

There ya go-- hating again! :D
HEY!!!!!!!! ROFL I said Mr. J hates it... not me!!! Of course he hates everything compared to me. He says I'd eat cow balls if someone coated it in breadcrumbs :( He's so mean.

Broccoli is one of those things he's always vocal about. Just cooked broccoli not raw. I do have a better chance of getting that in his mouth than asparagus though, and he does like my broccoli braid which is why I am still wanting to try it as written!! :)

Anyway, I've got a crapload of kids who keep opening the garage to let the beast mequpak out! So I'm out for the night.
Darcy - that looks good!

We love everything in it :D
I have a funny little story about Chicken Diaen.

My hubby and I had only met about three weeks before our first date, so didn't know each other very well. He asked me out to dinner and a movie. We had our first dinner together at The Winery. As we where looking over the menu, I thought the Chicken Divan lookes so good. I had not had it before so decided to order it. Now our conversation before the waiter came was how to pronounce Divan. We laughed and chuckled about different pronounciations. So when the waiter finally came back to take our order, my hubby looked over expecting me to put in my order. I said to the waiter "he will order for me." and I looked over at Chuck with a Chesier cat smile on my face and a mischievious Irish twinkel in my eyes. He stumbled through the ordering and all worked out. The Devan was devine and all went well on the date. We've had quite a laugh over that "order" over the last 26 yrs.

I will try your recipe it took yummy.
This was wonderful! And I should know, I had two helpings tonight!

Thanks Darcy :)

It just makes more sense to put off dieting until I try all of these great dishes--- right?
YUM YUM YUM YUM!!! I liked this a lot. Got Mr. J to eat all of his too. This goes in my keeper file :)

The changes I made were:
I didn't use broccoli. I used probably half (1C) of lite sour cream. I baked chicken for 10 min. Then added sauce AND breadcrumbs ...then baked for 20 more min COVERED w/foil. Since I used ready bacon pieces, I treated it like my other recipes and didn't add until 10 min with the cheese and then baked UNCOVERED.

Pics were taken PRIOR to melting the cheese on top and baking an additional 10 min uncovered.

Do you like broccoli? It's basically the same thing (same taste) but it's longer strands.
