I turned down 2 wks in Paris!

Quick update on what's been happening with me as I've been horribly rude lately and haven't stopped by in a while.

Kaj's job required him to go to Paris for two weeks. He turned them down as he stated he didn't want to leave me with the work of caring for all the animals. Hmph! Sheesh I've been doing it for years where he only started living with me last year. Still it was thoughtful.

His work kept pressuring him to go and would keep postponing the dates when he would go. Finally, they said very generously they would pay for me to go as well when he kept sticking to his guns. Okay that's an expression as we only carry harpoons in Canada..nyuck nyuck.

He came home all excited and to his dismay I stuck to my "harpoons" and said "Nope." I mean who the heck would watch all the animals?

He told his company and they said "we'll pay for a house sitter if that helps".

Oh so tempted but I couldn't leave my students and wouldn't want to ask someone to house sit on such short notice. Besides, all the people I personally know and trust have their own housefull of critters.
It would take me at least 2 wks to show someone who gets what meds, who needs special food, who just had dental, ect...

Okay, I'm nuts admittedly but I have 30 special needs/senior animals who depend on me and besides I'm a Martyre.

Kaj,left on Saturday and will return in 3 wks as he'll also stop off and see his family in Amsterdam. Me? I'll be eating Raman Noodle soups and cuddling with the animals for 3 wks.

I completely understand. We just turned down10 days in Paris; 3 days was for work and all expenses would have been paid. Adam didn't want to leave the dogs for that long. :headbang:

I love my dogs dearly. But i sure do love Paris and hot croissants....
Sounds fine to me! We've postponed vacations of any distance & length the last few years because of aging dogs. They appear to be in very good health but with my luck they would decide their time was up while I was gone! So home we stay for now. Doesn't really bother me as I've been to so many places & seen so many things. Sometimes a vacation to me is just spending time with my dogs....away from work & regular day to day stuff!
I had to do a search just to update myself but I wasn't paying attn to details or I would have said MORE DETAILS ON KAJ ...a LONG time ago!!! Glad to hear things are working out so nicely with this guy! We need pics ;)

I totally understand about the pets. We turned down so many jobs overseas to wonderful places because of the animals. Even if you did go, you'd be a stress monkey worrying about your critters!!!!!

Hopefully he knows to bring back something marvelous for you. At the very least, something to eat other than ramen noodles ;)
You guys are nuts!! I would have been on the next plane out...

I guess I'm lucky to have really great, really free dog sitters that I totally trust (my brother and his wife, my in laws, and my sister in law all fight over who gets to watch marley).
Good thought, Mrs. J! Marianne, if he's flying in and out of Charles DeGaulle airport, there's a "Pauls" bakery right inside the terminal. Ask him to bring you some pastries!!!! Nothing with cream inside, or security can take it away.
I totally know how you must feel. Aside from the practical stuff like meds, it would feel wrong to leave them all & you just wouldn't have fun. Just thinking about going away without Ru makes my stomach churn, and it's probably easy to find a nice kennel but I just couldn't do it  I think I would cry every day. I have separation anxiety
I'll go in your place

Oooh la la Paris 8) :D
I am the same Marianne....I turned
down a trip to Bermuda one time!

Marty went and I stayed with the kids...
That was all my idea and he did
not argue

I was thinking, I haven't been to Canada in
forever SOOOOO...
The next time the company offers to pay for
a pet sitter, tell them it'll cost them and
fly me up!!!
I'll put my hand up for being a stay at home too.

Wayne has to go back to Borneo and maybe on to Tokyo in June. He asked if I wanted to come but he'll be working so I'd have to entertain myself and I'd miss the dogs and worry about them.
I with MaryAnn! My husband travels for business and goes to the greatest places. Everyone asks why I don't go and my response is always the same...I can't leave my dogs!

I might add...sometimes its nice to be home without hubby! Let's see...less laundry to do...less cooking...no dirty socks laying around...no muddy shoes through the house...
^^^^^^^^^^
I hear you!!!
and no restless insomniac. :D
I am making no comments with my track record being away from home and my next trip is just around the corner.
