Snow & Mats

Is there anything to spray or apply to your dogs coat before they go play in high snow? Mine love the snow and play and then come back all knotted up...Where is Spring????

snow suits
You could try a silicone based spray but, unfortunately, that'll leave them greasy afterward. I think we're all just screwed until the thaw and then we'll be bummed about mud!

I brushed the boys out before they went outside today so they didn't have any mats going into the snow. It helped for later but not before. Owen somehow came in covered up to his elbows in those deep, hard snowballs while Clyde (who was playing side by side with him) had none. I ended up having to put Owen in the tub and melt his off-- even the high powered dryer wouldn't take them off well.

Someone needs to create Teflon for dog hair. :)
I like that idea of Teflon!  I like the snow suit idea too but forget it! No way mine will wear one for too long!

I did spray their inside legs and paws with some stuff and yes, it got them all greasy. Lucily, the baby is going to the groomer tomorrow. She matts so easy it drives me crazy! The older boy doesn't jump into the deep snow like the little one so he never gets so bad...She is a real "tom boy"!
Oh Marleys snow suit zips up her back and covers all four legs - no way can she get out of it and it makes her quite slippery when she and Morgan play
Kerri, where did you find that suit? Does it make them over perspire? And when you say makes her slippery, do the feet stick out or are they covered too making her slip on the ground?
I'll take the snow over the Spring rains here. It rains non-stop from Late March through May/June and floods. I can keep up with snowy mats, but I can't keep up with muddy/wet/gross/mats.

No it doen't cover the feet - I add boots, but they both wear them. Its a slick fabric and she is a bit like a little eel in it :) that's what I meant by slippery I got it from cherry brook. Actually got two - they seem to run small - and Marley is wearing the one meant for Morgan.

I know its hard to see but she is wearing it in this photo.

I'm going to look into that. And glad you warned me about the sizing. How much is Marley and what does she weigh and what size did you get? Lots of questions at once, sorry!

My 3 three year old is big but he doesn't need it as much. The girl is the one who likes to make the snow angels and then rolls around with her feet up in the drifts
:clappurple: Love the snowsuit!!! Do you have her in longer hair?? Wish the pic was better
thanks for the smile :D
She is between 65 qnd 70 pounds and in a full coat (with quite bit of undercoat) The legs are too long, but we just pull them up - they seem to stay.
We have a blow dryer and a towel ready when he's taken for a walk. I also like the snowsuit and would have no trouble getting Chaunce to wear it, but how do I get him out in snow that deep? We have to blow him a path in the yard for poops & pee's. He won't go off the patio otherwise. If it's less than 6" or so he love's it, but he's not having anything to do with the blizzards that we have gotten so far this year.
