Midwest Winter Storm

So how are the members in Wisconsin & Michigan faring this time around? They were supposed to get pretty much snow this time. Kristine....did you get home from work early as planned?

The snow started an hour earlier than expected here in OH....around 9:30AM. Teeny flakes. As the hours wear on, the flakes are bigger & the snow is heavier. And the wind is coming from the east......NOT a good sign. We were to get 1"-3" by evening but I think we are at that point already. Western part of the state is supposed to get more than us here in the eastern part. The path in my dog run is gone :( Supposed to be a lot more overnight & thru the day Wed. My obedience & agility class already has us on alert for cancellation for Wed. They are northwest of me & very flat....like where Dawn lives.

Keep warm and stay safe you guys!!
Snowing at least an inch an hour here now. It is now being called a dreaded "Nor-easter". WOOHOO another 18-24"+

But I will get out of here Thur. morning if I have to tunnel my way to Florida!
where in fla are you going/
Maybe it will pass quickly??

Like I said, we really lucked out. The snow was a lot, but mostly dry. And our BIG enemy the WIND was absent this time. Lots of snow, and really not nice on top of the ice sheet from the rain storm a week ago (with the other snow under that!), but still is much better than a windy blizzard. And no power outages, which is always a huge plus. :D

And while I had to cancel my classes last night, Chewie and I's agility class is on for tonight!

Poinciana....about an or so hour south of Orlando.
We take 2-3 vacations a year and have never been to FL. I am sooo looking forward to it.
We can take Chauncey, but we are not. Our friends have 2 Chows, a 3 y.o
male, calm, loving and unaltered. Chauncey and Titus have played well. They also have a 6mo old that just finished her 1st heat, and is definitely an alpha bitch. Chauncey has never met Izzy. So I think it's best not to put Chauncey into an unknown situation so far from home. They also do not have a fenced yard and with 3 dogs in an unknown area to all I'd be a nervous wreck.
We have plans for get together's and play dates...when we can find the back yard. Our plan is for us to go down once or twice a year, with all 3 dogs.

I hope all goes well and the weather is better than you're expecting. It really does sound like fun. :)

I hope everyone else has lots of hot chocolate. We got a little blast of cold air here and it's fine by me since it also rained a lot which means the last 2 baseball games have been canceled (baseball = standing out in the cold)

The storm you had is merging with a low pressure system off the MD/DE coast. It is becoming a Nor-easter. The forecast for us keeps getting worse. It is snowing at least an inch per hour. The wind is to hit us overnight & into tomorrow. Our temp's are in the low 20's, not bad, but it has not gotten above freezing to develop a crust on the previous snow. This usually helps our area. The 33" on the ground + the 1" per hour we're getting is starting to drift in areas. I love snow. I love to drive in it, play in it....but okay enough. Our infra-structure has not recovered from the weekend. We are fine, warm...well fed thanks to the many suggestion on this forum, maybe too well fed. We have not had any power outages in our area, we are quite comfortable and we have two 4 wheel drive vehicles ( Jeep Wrangler with a 3" lift kit and an F250 extended cab )and I have a BMW that will pass those on a bad day. I just got home from shopping for our FL get away. I'm sure as in all area's we have many idiot's in the ditch and numerous accidents. I'm listening to my EMS monitor and our Fire/EMS/POLICE units are going crazy. I really do miss those days

Boy does that sound familiar. Spoken like a true employee of the education system! (I can say that because my mom is a retired school teacher  )

And I went to work at 3 am this morning so I could leave by noon before the blowing snow kicked in.

On the positive side getting up that early is a good time to talk to our friends downunder

Marilyn, we're OK. I don't think we'll get quite the amounts they predicted, though with the blowing around it will be hard to tell. Already have some "interesting" drifts. Dogs are loving it at least. I can't get the little girls to come in.

I'd love to send a few inches your way. He[[, I'm willing to help out Vancouver. What the heck is up with that?
I work at a university. If they call classes, we all get the day off. :)
The snow started here last night. I got up this morning, still snowing. Its 8:30pm and its STILL snowing. The wind has picked up so now its blowing.

We are expected to get 10-14 inches. I think we hit the 10 and are on the way to 14.

Still a lot better then the East. Here we sit with our measly foot and they are expected get more on top of the 2-3 FEET.

But we are doing it cheerfully
A new 5" already and the heavy snow is to start overnight???

Now if I can't make it to FL, I promise to whine, *itch and complain

Kind of cool. We're thinking about hosting the baseball games at our place (we have a big empty lot next to us) since right now... we keep getting rained out. Their baseball field is in a "bowl" so whenever there is a little rain... it floods. The kids do everything from running to their moms instead of 1st base after they hit the ball from dropping the bat to catch the ball when they're up at the tee. During our first practice, we had 1 pull down his pants to pee.
