14 mo old female in OKC

I spoke with a woman who listed three dogs on CL today, one of which is an OES. She said she's a vet tech and takes a lot of dogs in, this one was brought in with another dog from a couple who were moving to South Africa and were going to put their dogs to sleep because they couldn't take the dogs with them. I am going to visit tomorrow to see if it's all on the up and up. She posted "small rehoming fee", but in talking to her, she says just wants to make sure the dogs go to a good home. She was spayed last week.

If all goes well, I will bring this girl home with me to foster. I will keep this post updated with info, but if you know anyone in the area who may be a good home for her, please direct them to me.

I met "Kira" today, who is a moppet to the nth degree. She's playful like she's an 8 week old, only she's full grown. She has learned sit, but not stay, and she is house broken. Energy deluxe!

Her stitches will come out Saturday and if she's given the all clear, I'll bring her to my home on Monday to foster. I'll have her cut down next week as well. Right now her muzzle is shaved and the rest of her is probably 6 inches, so poor girl looks a little ridiculous.

Anybody in the Oklahoma/North Texas/Kansas/West Arkansas or Louisiana areas, OKC is an easy drive!
I am glad she is doing well. I spoke with my coworker (who also has a 5 yr old male OES) about his interest in another. He said his wife would love another, but he says no. :(

If we wouldn't have just gotten another puppy, I would be all over her! We got our first OES (Sophie) when she was almost a year and she was already potty trained and knew some commands. Our puppy (Mollie) is just a huge handful! :)

Keep us updated. I will see if anyone else I know is looking for a fabulous dog.
I may be interested. Do you have her now? I will PM you.
I brought Kira home yesterday, and promptly took her to the dog wash because she reeked of urine. :? Her coat was matted pretty severely - to the point of pulling on her tummy. I called my groomer friend while I was washing her! This morning, we had her shaved down and she's so much happier! Turns out, she's very pretty too! Her wall-eyes are opposite of Lacey's - mirror image (except Lacey is short and fat but I digress).

Chap and Lacey are not particularly thrilled. I keep reminding them that THEY were rescues too and need to empathize! So far, nobody is getting along very well.

She's extremely thin, but now eating quite well. She's a tall girl - equal to my male, but he has at least 25 pounds on her.

She needs A LOT of training! She can sit for about 3 seconds. And that. Is. All.

She's going to be a great dog, I can just tell. A little training, some filling out, and perfection!

Oh, and I'm renaming her Harley. Fits her much better and wasn't given to her by the @(%)&)* who named her. :D

This is "Kira" at the home where I picked her up:

And this is the new "Harley":

Way to go she looks great!
Kudos for getting that girl to safety!
Who knew such a beauty was under all that matted coat? She's just beautiful!
Oh, she is precious!! What a great day for Harley. Beautiful smile.
She is beautiful !!Too bad you are not closer I have a wonderful home that adopted a male from me(he was urine soaked too!!) and she would love a sheepie girl. She has given this boy such a wonderful home and is close to me and I visit them every so often. Good luck with this cutie:):)
Wow who would have thought a hair cut would make so much difference. She is a pretty girl. Thanks for caring for her.
hi,
please take someone with you. this could be a scam. i ran across one thats how i know. the dog might be from s. african in which the dog would have to be quantined at the vet. please be careful and do not give any money unless you are taking to dog the day you go.

Fortunately that's not the case here. The person who took her in was the vet tech for the veterinarian the man left the dog with to be euthanized. I spoke with the vet myself.

But thank you for your concern!
Congrats--she looks like a sweetie!
You can tell from the pictures...........Harley is Happy !!
Well Done !!!!!! And now to a GREAT PERMY HOME for Harley....
RIDE -ON ........HARLEY 8)
She is beautiful! And so happy!
How is she doing??
Re-reading this thread that just got bumped. I have steam coming out my ears now. :x What the hell's wrong with people that they would just bring in a lovely young dog to be put to sleep because they're moving overseas???

$#$%@^!!!!

I hope she's doing well in her much better new home!
What awful heartless souless people they are to even think of doing that.

My daughters boyfriend works at a Vets office and he see this all of the time. As a matter of fact we have a cat hiding in the bedroom right now. It was brought in by it's owners for nuetering, and it had been in a fight, the vet ran blood tests and found that it had feline HIV. They called the owners and they told the vet they didn't want it back! Can you believe it???? So now we have it and are are trying to find a home for it.

If you all know anyone who wants a really sweet cat that needs to be inside with no other cats and is exhibiting no health problemslet me know. We are in Arizona.

If we all had the hearts of dogs the world would be a paradise...

She is doing great! She's SO beautiful, and a really tall girl. She's still very thin but she's healthy. She's doing better with her manners but she's still very, very hyper and I could do a lot better about spending time training her. But she's coming along, just slower than I'd prefer but it's really my fault and not hers. She's a very smart girl.

She fits in very well with the exception of our male OES Chap. He's a very jealous dog - not aggressive in the least but he gets worked up and upset when she gets attention. He'll pace around us whining and barking to try to get us to not pay attention to her. He will play with her some but in general, he is a dog who would be so much happier if he was an only dog. He likes to play with other dogs but he doesn't want to live with them. :? So, we have a bit of stress in that regard. I decided next month once the kids are back in school and I have a little more time during the day, I would have a behaviorist try to work with us a bit to see if we can overcome this.

Thanks for thinking of us! We'd love to get together at a park and play sometime. :D

It's infuriating, isn't it? She's such a happy, loving girl and to think he was treating her just like an old banana peel or something - just throw it out, I'm done with it. I know his name and vowed if I ever come across him in real life, I'll give him a piece of my mind. Not that he'd care, obviously, but I'll say it anyway.
omg, i'm thinkin racquel could tell me his name and i could throw away his car for him cause i thought he was done with it.
