New to the OES world, very excited but have TONs of questions

Hi everyone!
We will be getting our very first OES dog next month and we are SO excited. She's a year old, been shown a couple times, and she sounds amazing...
I'm doing my best to research everything there is to know regarding the breed, and I feel that I've made a great decision going with the dog I chose. I now know her pedigree back 4 gen. and it's really good with multiple champions from different parts of the world, every gen of her pedigree has had the eyes and hips tested, and are excellent. I feel I've done a lot of research but I'm nervous because I find myself wondering what is it that I can do to make sure I take care of this beautiful OES the way an OES dog needs to be cared for, what have I not heard that I NEED to know?

Any suggestions on grooming equipment?
What do your OES dogs enjoy?
Are there specific training commands I should make she sure learns?
Is there supplements I should consider with this breed?
Any tips or suggestions to a new owner? 'I'd really love to hear it all... I've really been enjoying learning about the OES dog breed and I can't tell you how excited I am to add her to our family!

Thanks for letting me pick your brains... I really want to make sure I care for her the best she deserves.

Most importantly she will need an owner who is calm, in control, who can take her many places and not let her get out of control........tho as a show dog she has probably been well traveled and socialized.

You need to feed her good/excellent quality food, her previous owner will let you know that. As to supplements, probably not now other than a probiotic if you must give something extra. As she ages she may need joint supplements..just like the rest of us, but that's in the future. Medically, keep her teeth clean and regular trips to the vet for exams. Of course her body needs to be clean including ears, nails trimmed. Her coat should be well tended, whether you leave her in long coat or trim it back.

Mentally keep her stimulated with exercise and "games." If you have access to agility, obedience classes or herding classes, give them a try. A dog with a purpose will be happier, healthier and easier to live with.
Welcome sheepie luvs!

I would thoroughly pick the brains of the previous owner or caregiver for all the info you can about your new girl. Find out what training she has had, what types of exposures she has had. Also find out her vocabulary - what words were used for what behaviors. I do rescue work, and figuring out the dog's "words" are one of the hardest things. Stuff like what the command to potty is can be valuable!

You didn't say - are you a new dog owner, or just new to OES?

Of course get all her records and get the vet stuff to your vet and get a chart started on her. A visit with an exam right off the bat is a good thing. Then if you have any medical needs popping up, the vet will already have met her and have a baseline to go from. And if it is emergency type health stuff, that's not the time you want to be digging at home for her records to bring with.
Wecome from St. Louis!!!!! Can wait to see pictures of your 'baby'!!! :D
Welcome from WV! You've found the right place to learn, the folks here are incredible, and available 24-7. Looking forward to all your stories. What is your girl's name?
Welcome from Florida. would love photos when you get her
thanks everyone for your tips, and I will surely post pics of her once she's with us!

One of the comments mentioned that I said I was new to the OES, but not a new dog owner. This is correct, I've lived with dogs my whole life, but I've never had a dog that I know will have as much grooming maintenance as an OES dog. We are still not sure if we plan on showing her or not, but I'm open to the idea since she's already trained to. I think it would be such a waste to not use her talents, so she kind of opening new doors for me. Obviously these doors bring a lot of new unknowns to me, and thats why I'm doing my research. Not only do I care that she's being cared for properly, and that I make sure she's healthy, but I want her to succeed in her showing if we decide to take that on.
It's important to me that I do things right with her, she's going to be a member of our family and thats why I'm so interested in making sure I know as much as I can before we get her.

What are your OES favorite treats?
What are you favorite tools when brushing yours out and grooming?

Thanks!
I dont show my sheepie but she is in full coat.

I use my pin brush, collie comb and squirt bottle for 90% of Tiggy's grooming. I also have baby powder and a bristle brush on hand for cleaning up any mess around the butt and will also brush it through Tiggy's skirts and hocks if she gets a bit of urine in the coat there. That seems to work better for me than a no water shampoo.

I also love my thinning scissors for trimming ears, top knot and anywhere else that gets ratty as I cant do anything to drastic to her coat with those. :D
