ouch I cut Morgan's ear

Since Morgan was so sick for so long - and he had messy drains dripping down his side - I let his coat get to be a mess - I admit it.

Tonight, as most nights this week, I spent a little time working on cutting and shaving him down. Since his ears were matted I was scissoring -carefully- tp make it easier to shave them. SOmehow I managed to cut his left ear

being an ear it bled a bit and stopped. I then trimmed the rest of his head, face and ears. And he started shaking his head :?

Now he has blood all over his head and the other ear. Its only a little blood, but by shaking his head he spatterred it all over his head and opposite ear, then I tried to clean it up and spread it -

I think we had better finish tomorrow - and then there is a definite bath in his immediate future - I hope I can get the red off his head and ears befor eclass at 4 tomorrow

Poor Morgan!

I hope it stops bleeding and he heals quickly without too much head shaking!
You could use hydrogen peroxide on the other spots. Just make sure you rinse and condition so it doesn't get brittle.

No hair left to get brittle :) but, yep peroxid and surgical scrub (I buy from my vet) do a good job. This morning it is definitely better and no more blood or transfer;) With his medical issues though I am going to check with the vet to see if he needs an antibiotic - I did put an antibiotic cream on it.
ouchie! I haven't done that one in a long time :( I always worry, those ears are tender and bleed so much.

Is Morgan feeling better (not counting the ear, which I'm sure he has forgotten anyway, at least until you come at him with a scissors the next time...)? Knock on wood for good health !!
he's a doggy, so he'll forgive you, but he may bring it up from time to time. i know i did with dad. mom never let him cut my hair again. ;-)

He seems to be for the last two weeks. Of course dinner time is awful - he is not happy with his new limited menu at all - especially when he can see B eating turkey necks across the gate. Good thing he is such a mild mannered boy. Thanks for asking!
Don't bet yourself up about cutting the ear. I once cut my poor dog's side neck area requiring an er visit and 6 stitches

I now only use blunt end sissors and have learned to put my finger between the skin and where I am cutting so if anything gets cuts, its me :)

Hope Morgan's on the mend!
