Need Chicagoland Foster home for OES!

Hi guys, I just got wind of a young adult OES male coming from a kill shelter in Kentucky. It's not through my rescue, but a different Chicagoland all breed rescue called Cause 4 Paws.

They don't know anything about him except for the above and that he may possibly be from an abuse case. They are desperately searching for a foster home.

Can anyone help?

Heather, if Sally can't help, have you suggested they contact the appropriate OES rescue? It looks like Kentucky is covered by Ingrid/South East OES Rescue shaggydogs@charter.net

Kathy, can you confirm?

It seems like that would make a lot more sense than shipping the dog to Chicago?

Hey guys,
Just to let you know.. proper protocol would be to let Cause for Paws handle this, but if any of you want to foster for them, that is fine. Since a rescue group has already claimed the dog, they need to proceed with handling the dog.

At this time OES Rescue of the SE is letting Jim Spurling handle KY dogs.

I am acting as the current Placement Director for OES Rescue of the SE.

Can an OES Rescue consult with this group as far as
reccomendations for the breed in placing?
At least offer assistance if needed...they may not need it, or want it!
Doesn't hurt to offer...

Alot of all breed rescues I work with prefer dogs go
to breed specific rescues.
(at least appreciate the input)
Honestly, I think we all agree OES are not for everyone.

I looked at the KY contact and it is still Ingrid...
Does Jim have contact info or who should folks refer to??
(I do want to add that Jim Spurling has done a wonderful
job for many years, for many dogs)

I am not sure which dog is being referred to but, I hope all works out!
I gave her Sally's contact info. and put her in touch with Nita and Nancy.

I think letting Cause 4 Paws is a good idea as well, they are a great rescue and are experienced with dogs that aren't fit for every home so I'm sure they know the drill. As for transporting the dog, I'm sure he is coming in a group transport as we get a lot of KY dogs up here.

I will certainly let them know that there are options if they need help.

Thanks Heather...
I am sure Nita and Nancy will be a great resource for them if needed.
Of course, you are too!
I would suggest checking with Nita first. One, because she's geographically much closer than Nancy, and two because Nancy in Minnesota has her hands full treating multiple dogs with TBDs, one recovering from Entropian surgery, oh, and a ten year old who's still, I'm told, full of it  .

And can I give her boy, Jakie, a plug?

He's a five year old who needs to be in a home with other OES, an experienced OES owner, and NO cats. Or other small critters, just to be to be safe side.

She really needs a home for him, or even a catless foster home in the Twin Cities area, since she would really love to see her cat again. She does a phenomonal job in a difficult part of the country, so if any of you up there in the frozen tundra feel inspired to help, please contact her.

I return you now to your regularly scheduled Kentucky boy. Thanks for the indulgence.

On the same channel with you Kristine, Nancy is filled to the brim....

I personally if I could would LOVE to adopt Jakie and Arthur.
Arthur looks like a BIG ole teddy bear and a fav boy of mine.
