I found my sheepdog!

Hello,
I posted a message a little while back that I was looking for a sheepdog to rescue in California. I found one yesterday on petfinder.com in an animal control shelter in Las Vegas! He was scheduled to be euthanized on Tuesday if nobody adopted him. I will be driving to pick him up tomorrow! His name is Moby, he is 1 1/2 yrs old. He is a little messy looking right now, he has probably never been groomed. Anyways, thank you all that responded for your advice and support. I'm very excited about bringing Moby home and will post a picture when he gets here and gets cleaned up!
Thanks again,
Sarah Wilkinson

Congratulations !!!
That is wonderful news, so nice Moby has found a loving home !
You will have lots of time to bond with him while grooming.
And he will love it !

You will love the sheepie company on the way back to California !

Have a safe drive tomorrow !!
(You might want to pick up a seat belt halter for transporting
him, unless you have another option. )

Please post pictures when you can,

Best Wishes and Sheepie Hugs
Congrats! And a messy sheepie is a brand new sheepie when it meets a set of clippers...lol....
I can't wait to see pics :)
Does he have any issues that you are aware of? Did they have much info on him? Why were they going to put him down? Does he have a name yet?
:D :clappurple: :D :clappurple:
    I love happy endings!!!
Just wait til your first sloppy kiss :D
I don't know much about him, just that Animal Control picked him up wandering the streets of Las Vegas. They are considered a "high kill" shelter, they only give dogs 6 days before euthanization. I haven't even met him yet, I'm just going by pictures and talking to the shelter staff.
Oh Sarah that is terrific! I know you just can't wait to get your hands on Moby...love the name :D Just roll down the windows if he's tooooo smelly 8O It will be worth it!
Travel safely!
Diane
:clappurple: YAY! another happy ending!

Congratulations on your new angel wings.... Thanks for adopting a doggie!
That's TERRIFIC!! I had a horse called Moby....could it be a sign of size to come?!
Best wishes,
Cathy
Congrats and I hope it all works out!
Well, I made it back from Vegas just fine with Moby. He's such a sweetheart! His coat was even worse than it looked in the pictures that I saw. He had about 2 inches of thick matting all over his back and sides. We had to use scissors to cut it off because he is absolutely terrified of clippers. I'm guessing he had a bad experience with them in the past. I will have to work with making him feel safe with the clippers. Once we started cutting, we found pieces of metal, wood, bird featheres, etc. in his coat. We even found a collar that we didn't even know he had on! His skin was remarkably intact and sore-free given his coat situation. He looks like a totally new dog now! He is not very active, he just likes to follow us around and lay by our feet, but he is one of the nicest dogs I've ever met. I think he's probably a mix, but we love him just the same! I just wanted to give you all an update.
Thanks everyone!
Sarah,

I'm so happy to hear that Moby is in his new home and adjusting. Metal, wood, bird feathers, and a COLLAR under the mats????? How can anyone abuse a dog's coat that badly?? The poor little guy! Just for what you've done for him so far, he'll be eternally grateful. Is this your first OES? Be prepared to have your heart stolen forever!

Welcome to the forum! Also be prepared to love this place! And when you can, please post pics of your new baby!

Chris
Awesome! It's nice to hear he's okay now.

I cannot believe there were so many things under his coat, poor guy, good thing he's now in your hands, ready to be loved and give back 1000 times the love you give him, he'll steal your hearth, you'll see,

Whenever you have a chance, post pictures of your new doggie!
Wow.... how awful that he had all that stuff stuck in there... I bet he feels so much better already! :)
Congrats on your new dog! We got Bentley at right around the same age. Don't be fooled by his calmness. Bentley was like that when we got him. It was like he was afraid to get comfy for fear that he would be going somewhere else. Once he realized this was home LOOK OUT! That was when the fun began!

I still wouldn't swap him for the world! He's really become one of the family.
