Random Blabbing about a new chapter in our life (kid sports)

I cannot believe my kid is growing up. I'm so thrilled to be entering this chapter.

Tonight will be the first coaches meeting and our first "game" isn't until March. I assume practice starts the end of this week or next. I never thought in a million years Mr. J and I would be doing this. Heck, I hate baseball. Let's be honest, I hate being dirty and being out in ugly weather too. Yes, I'm THAT person. Golf is more entertaining to play and watch. ;)

I can't believe he'll be playing soon and who knows... maybe in 20 years, he'll be buying momma a shelby cobra and a new house. Just sayin' 8) ;)

Now in reality ...this is only instructional t-ball. They'll basically learn to throw and catch, I'm sure. It's just nice to have the dream about the lottery always on my mind and now my future baseball star.

The other reality is how insane it will be to come up with fun drills for kids to learn and pay attn. They're 4. We've already been trying to come up with funny phrases to learn techniques like ...alligator eats the ball, squish the bug, etc.

I love being a parent :)

Just wait until you find out your kid is running to a friend's house after you drop them off, then back to the field before you get there to pick them up. I had that experience w/ the girls and softball when they were in elementary school. The friend was supposed to be playing ball too, but her house was conveniently across the street from the ball field.

Things went much better at 4-H dog training with mom there as an instructor!

Well, it's not too late to hope it's just a girl thing.....
So first meeting was last night. I had NO IDEA we did snacks, had to find a sponser, and had to raise X amount of money. I'm going to be busy!!! We also got Tuesday as our practice day, so FIRST ONE IS TODAY!!!

I have no idea what we're going to do! ...and how to get the parents to back up from their children. ;)
Ahhhh!!! I remember those days!!!! I coached softball and volleyball..   Interesting experience to say the least!!!!
Memories, memories, and more memories. Sitting and cheering in the cold all bundled up in blankets, praying for the end of the game as your feet go numb. Supplying the snacks, with the kids coming up to you every 5 minutes - what did you bring? Can we have one now? Then when our daughter got old enough and decided she didn't want to do baseball but wanted gymnastics instead - trying to coordinate running one kid one place and the other kid to another place, then coordinated who was going to pick up who. And the fundraisers - ah, yes, the fundraisers. Candy bars, wrapping paper. At least our baseball "uniforms" were only team t-shirts (remember, this was 22 years ago!), but the gymnastics costumes for the recitals were pricey even then (17 years ago).

Even with all that being said - it was a memorable time for all. We met a lot of new friends thru the kids' stuff, have lots of stories to embarrass them with!

Enjoy!
Oh you're going to have so much fun about 5 more years when you have three of them in three different sports and two extracurricular school activities each season and they all overlap and have practice and games times at the same time on different fields.........welcome to my life!
Fun!

DH can't wait to do all this stuff with T, like soccer and all that.

So, is Lil J going to be the star pitcher and that's how he buys you fancy gifts?
 We hope although Joshee seems more like our star athlete ...at least when it comes to baseball, football, wrestling, and competition eating. He's fearless and moves around daddy's 24pk of beer like it ain't no thang.

We're SO excited about soccer (my husband's sport ...that and rugby), but that sign up isn't until summer time. I think lil J will be our soccer, guitar player. He gets soccer and already shows signs of being those boys in school who got laid b/c of their mad guitar skills. Just sayin'... I asked him, so are you going to hit the ball and run real fast tonight? He replied "run... nooooo.. silly mom. I'm not running." :?

I'm sure they'll both surprise me and prove me wrong.
Let the fun begin
I'm on my second round with grandchildren. Wyatt-chorus, baseball, BMX biking. Morgan-ballet, karate, plays.

So what happened to his gift drum set??? PLEASE don't tell me you gave it away! 90% of my son's personality, study habits in school, confidence level was directly related to banging on the skins!
