Okay - I realize it has been a long week but I am going insane. Lots of helpful information regarding brushes and combs - but can anyone just send me (or make up) a basic list? I know - I am acting like a fruit cake but can we just maybe have a:
"for mats use ______"
"to lightly detangle use ______"
"For brushing/combing hair lengths less than 4 inches use _______"

Along with links to purchase and stuff ? Maybe one place that carries all of this? PUHLEEZE ?

I fear that if I don't have someone hold my dang hand I am gonna purchase too much stuff and I would rather spend that money on the right GOOD stuff - or doggie toys.

This has the potential to drive me to drink - so any helpful hand holding would be appreciated !

Definitely the margaritas...lol....
Ok, here is a list that was given to me by Diane Buckland, Tarawood OES and is what she recommends to all her puppy people to make sure they start off on the right foot, right off the bat. (Thank you Diane!)
Everything on this list can be found at www.petsupplyhouse.com and I'm sure at many other pet supply websites, or if you don't shop online you can take the list to your local pet supply store and have them order whatever is not in stock. I personally feel the only essentials, aside from food, collars, leads, treats, toys, etc... is the pin brush, whatever brand you choose. I would say that the best brands are #1AllSystems, and Hindes. JMO A combination comb, steel, Resco is good. For a puppy that is about it. They grow fast though.
It is best to get them in the habit of grooming, even if it seems they don't need it, because they will later. Get them used to you cleaning their ears, trimming their nails, trimming fur between the paw pads and around the bum, it will make it easier later. IMO the only mat removal tool you need is your fingers and the comb. A spray bottle filled with water and about an ounce of whatever conditioner will help with grooming. Shampoo doesn't matter much either unless the dog has skin problems. I usually use whatever is handy that we buy for ourselves, and cowboy magic is my favorite for animal shampoos.
Ok, so here is a list. (With Canadian prices, may not be current)
