How to train muzzle hair to fall on sides in puppy

I have a 5.5 month old puppy - I'm putting his head hair up so he can see but the muzzle hair still sticks up everywhere obscuring his eyes. He can see OK but I'd like to get that hair lying down a bit - how do you experienced people train that muzzle hair in front of the eyes to start falling to either side?

Depends on the type of coat they have. At puppy stage the hair pretty much goes it's own way anyway. As adults, most of them can be brushed in the correct direction. José has a very harsh, correct coat. As he is growing back into a show coat I constantly am brushing his muzzle coat down so he can see, just to have it spring right back up. Once it gets long enough I can tie it up & off to the sides.
I remember that stage :hearts:
We just waited until it grew, it doesn't take long. I guess you could smooth it down with water but that wouldn't last long. When is gets longer, it stays down easier.

If you're not showing you could just trim it....

One of my pups has his hair trimmed near his eyes but is still in full coat
