Question about show dogs

I helped a friend adopt a rescue - Schnauzer. It was a long and unpleasant experience. Long story but ended so nicely. Finally I was able to find her a perfect match. The dog is almost 6 and I was told she was a showdog - went to Westminster. I don't know about that - doubt it. But anything is possible. My question is this dog was partially debarked. The rescue told me that many showdogs are partially debarked. Is that true?
The breeder and handler did not take very good care of this girl. She had worms and was mal nourished. That does not sound like a "top showdog" breeder to me.
Right now the schnauzer is healthy and happy getting all the attention from my friend. She is a really sweety! very mellow for a schnauzer. and beautiful.

Hearing that a schnauzer is debarked is very likely. They are a lively breed that likes to "talk" all about it! At shows I hear lots of "debarked" barking going on - mostly with the yappy smaller breeds. It seems fairly common. I'm sure the owners would get evicted/ harrassment calls from neighbors without the debarking - as most have many dogs and it would be insanely noisy living next to them.

As far as researching - did they get the dog's registered name? It would be fairly easy to look the dog up.
When you figure that a show grounds will have several thousand dogs all over it in two days, it is pretty easy to pick up something if you are not diligent. In addition to the entered dogs I also see local pets who come with their owners. And I won't even repeat the conditions I have seen pro handlers subject their charges to. While most people always pick up after their dogs, there is always someone who doesn't. This weekend one of the show motels had a tree close to a stairway that was loaded with bird excrement -and it was all over the sidewalk where we had to walk. 8O
I feel like nearly every time we set up at a dog show, there's a whole pack of debarked collies (pretty common for them to be debarked) right next to us so we hear that hoarse, miserable barking for hours. I feel like I'd rather just hear the real barking.
