grooming table

Looking for some suggestions.

Frankie is supposedly really good when he goes to the groomer. When I try to brush him anymore it's mostly a fight. I worked at this since he was a young puppy.

Would a grooming table make this easier?
Are there any reccomendations on where to purchase a grooming table?

Thanks

Lisa and Frankie

maybe. It did with Marley - just the opposite with Morgan - he has always hated the table and is better on the floor. But a lot of it si probably his age - breaking it into shorter sessions can help.
A grooming table takes them out of their element. It generally give you more control over the dog when grooming because they don't feel they can get up & run as if on the ground. If your dog hasn't been on a table on a regular basis in your home, you will probably have to start out with some very short sessions to get him to relax & feel safe & comfortable on it. There are several different styles & price ranges out there. My favorite comes from Wyncrist Show Supplies on the west coast. A bit pricey but I like the type of surface & it has adjustable legs which work well for me as I am short & sometimes have to groom & trim a larger male. The important thing is to make sure it is sturdy & that the surface is big enough for your dog. You want his body to be able to lay on the table without his head or rear hanging off. A good place to take a look online at some styles of tables is at www.petedge.com. It will give you an idea of different styles & price ranges. It's a bit of an investment but one that will last for years if you get a decent one.
A grooming tables saves your back big time. Just make sure if your sheepie is not fully mature when ordering one it is going to be long enough when fully grown.

When starting out on one, regardless of age, teach "Paws Up" that is placing the front paws on the dog up on the table, using the word "Paws Up" then hoisting the back of the dog onto the table, then grabbing the side of the dog and laying them down on one side, when finished grooming that side, ask the dog to stand, then flip them onto the otherside for grooming.

Never ever leave the dog unattended on the table, if you have too leave them for even a minute, then take them off the table. Best investment long term especially for you, you can make, makes life sooooooo much better when grooming a sheepie, saves your back and also the dog learns up on the table I cant go anywhere it's beauty parlour time, also good to dry a dog on after bathing and is great for your back in the long term then trying to do all on the floor.

Here is one of mine on the grooming table, last few months just brought a new one that is longer, this one is over 18 years old, needed a longer one due to the bigger male I kept.

Other good thing with them is they are not a permanent fixture, they collaspe and store away when not needed. :D

I have done a search for this table and haven't found anything on the net. I am in the west and an accomplished shopper and I have done 20 plus shows in CA and am unfamiliar with this company.

Would you be able to post a picture or provide some contact info?

Thanks!

I don't know if I have a photo or not in my stash. I'll have to check later on as I have to get ready for our last holiday part here tonight. If not, I'll take one & post it most likely Sunday. Their tables come in several different lengths & what I really like is they are a bit wider that regualr grooming table. The handle is cut into the extra width & make it so nice for moving it around & loading.
Lisa, I love the picture of your pup on the grooming table. You should also have a side job as photographer!
Daphne also has a crush on your blue eyed hunk, Syd!:hearts:
I think all the girls have a crush on Syd with those gorgeous blue eyes!!

I had my hands on this table this weekend. Wow. The price is right and it is one really sturdy table. I thought the adjustment mechanism was the best I have ever seen. This table was perfection in all ways, except one: it is just too heavy for my application. If you have a big heavy dog this is the table for you. Or if you are not going to use it as a travel table, this one is really well made and designed.

He had some great folding grooming arms. As I was walking through the vendor area with it I had lots of folks ask me about it. Even one of the larger vendors admired it and asked me where I had bought it, so maybe they will be carrying his line soon.

Thanks again for the recommendation. This is a real find.
