We're starting our dog collection!!

Just wanted to let you all know that we will be picking up our new addition on Tuesday, a 5 y.o. OES female that Frank's breeder will be placing with us. I'll keep you posted on all the settling in. Hopefully she'll whip Frank into shape!

Since you don't think we're already crazy enough, in addition to our new OES we will be getting a puppy sometime within the next 6 months - no, not an OES pup, a Norfolk Terrier pup. I know, goofy combination but both breeds are equally gregarious and goofballs.

Congrats on your new additions!!! :)
They are all very lucky puppers to have found a home and family with you :)
Pics! Pics! Pics!
Sounds fine to me. I'm saving the Norfolk to when I get too old to handle these bigger guys. What a lively house you'll have!
Just like Lays Potato Chips...you can't stop at just one....

Can't wait to hear all about your new addition to the household! Congrats!

Marianne
My wife wants a Norfolk Terrier someday.

You are probably going to live my future reality. 8O

I'll look forward to your comments on the experience. :D
Congratulations on your new puppies. The more the merrier :)
Congrats on the new addition! Will we get to see your whole gang at the Philly picnic?
Congrats on the upcoming new rescue! And a puppy in a few months?? How much fun will you have??

Oh yeah - the picnic! Can't wait to see everyone!

Chris
As far as terriers go, I really love the border terrier look, but don't know much else about them. I also love cairn terriers, and had one named Pepsi when I was little.
Where are you getting your norfolk terrier from??

We have a lady that breeds them in south carolina and I know she has some really nice dogs.

I believe she sells alot of show pups all along the east coast.

Just wondering!!
Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. And it will at least be Frank and his new sister at the picnic. Think the Norfolk would be too young if we even have him by then. Although I'm hoping that there will be a hose somewhere in the park that I can clean Frank up because I'm sure he'll have his usual car anxiety nervous stomach that will result in some sort of clean up from one of his ends. I'm hoping that the 5 year old will LOVE the car and then maybe show Frank that it's not that bad.

The story behind the Norfolk Terrier is as follows: When we picked Frank up from the breeder, the breeder also had about 5 or 6 Norfolks. I never really knew anything about them but they definitely got our attention at the kennel. My husband immediately became infatuated with them. So lets just say this is "his" dog if there is such a thing. We never saw ourselves as little dog people but there is something about that breed that really struck us. Little mischievious tough guys with enough personality to win your heart. Plus we're getting close to middle-age so I thought it would be nice since we didn't have any kids to have more than one dog, especially since Frank loves dogs so much. There are a lot of breeds that fascinate us so why only stick with OES? (Which will always be our first love.) So it will be interesting, to say the least, to experience another breed.

I'm still interested in experiencing the show world too and if things don't improve on the traveling problem that I have with Frank then I would just concentrate on showing the Norfolk which at least would be less to groom!

We're not sure when the Norfolk pup is coming. She has a current 5 week old litter right now but the one male that we thought we were getting may be going to another experienced Norfolk shower-breeder who she had promised it to first. We won't know for sure until next week. She has another champion bitch that is due to go into season in the next month or 2. Don't want to get our hopes up and jinx the litter. We have to handle the little puppy entering the home very carefully since he will be so small so unfortunately he won't be with the sheepdogs without supervison for a very long time. Frank does fine with the cat but I don't know how easily the Norfolk would maneuver himself out of his way especially during puppyhood.

Btw... with 3 dogs our "collection" will be complete. I'm sorry if I'm making fun of such a sad topic as a "dog collector". I don't know if I would call those type of people that neglect their dogs such a unassuming name.

Goodness - I hope that's not the case or I might end up with another dog! 8O (secret planning!) Hmmm now that I think about it... Momoko might need a boyfriend to hang around with.

Congratz on your two new dogs! :D
