Introducing a puppy to my oes

Not to sure where to post this. I've seen pictures that some of you have small dogs with their OES... Did you have to separate the two...I'm just afraid Brutus will crush the puppy somehow by being too friendly.
Any tips for me....How did it go at first? We've ''dogsat'' small dogs before but he gets over friendly and have to separate the two because the smaller one wants to beat the crap (sorry) out of him. The puppy we are getting is 10 weeks old.

Congratulations on your new pup!

When we took our second pup home, she was only 12 pounds and my two year old was 110. We introduced them under our supervision. We did keep them seperate and supervised them whever they were together. We found the little pup always got caught up under the older one and I was afraid he might step on her! Although we did let them run outside, it was ALWAYS with us supervsing and for a short time.

I think I remember reading, the pup should grow to about half the weight of the older one before letting them alone with each other.

We also did crate the younger one at night ( and still do ) but in the same room as us. We also took both out to potty seperately - especially for housebreaking purposes.

I can tell you it was alot of work but now they are great friends, we can leave them alone and they play great together. The potty situation...well,,the younger one still nudges the older one when he is trying to poop and pee! Then she has to go right on top of his!

Good luck...have patience...it will be great in the end.
Thanx
