cross country skiing

has anyone tried cross country skiing with their sheepie???? I don't know how much I trust her off leash and was wondering about a long leash attached to my waist. Kind of like dog sleding with me skiing instead. :?

Yes.

Not for the weak hearted (or knee'd  )

Fun though!

You have to get them used to the harness and the tug line and the skis first. It also helps to have a dog who will move out in front of you. That's why I sort of prefer two - they "compete" with each other instead of hugging my knees.

The first time I tried it was with Belle. I just put a harness on her, hopped on my skis and said let's go and that went fine until we had a choice to make and since she wasn't sure if I wanted her to go left or right she simply circled me till I ended up like the proverbial trussed chicken...

Ah, good times...
