Prayer to that sweet boy from all of us here in St. Lou....thinking of you .. :ghug: :ghug:
Thinking of you
Dr P just called..........They had to do an FHO There was too much damage done to the bone . I have issues with both centers If only they had sent records to the appropiate places this may have ben avoided It is all water under the bridge now I guess since there is not a second implant there is no chance of failing and another surgery. I feel I failed my boy. I will post when I get him home sigh Thanks for the support. Poor guinness has been shaved and probed and tested etc I would not blame him if he BIT me The pic is of him laying on the mattress in the den I have been sleeping on 8O to be downstairs with him I did order him a new bed for post op comfort.
Cindy, don't you dare beat yourself up over this. No way would Guiness bite you he loves you too much.

What a nice mommy you are to get him a new bed. I always like new jammies when I am sick.

We are keeping both of you in our prayers.

:ghug:
i've been checking your posts for good news! Thinking of you two- such sweet boy
Poor Guiness. I'll pray for a speedy recovery for him. An FHO can work well in big dogs, especially if his other hip is in good condition. You did not fail him, the choice was simply made for you.

:ghug:
Continued good thoughts and prayers for sweet sweet Guinness and you too Cindy.

And nicely it was made while he was still under anesthesia - one less surgery for Guinness.
It's done - and LET THE HEALING BEGIN! :D

KIDDING. 8)

To a new beginning for both of you. (Still sleeping on a mattress on the floor three years later so Mad can sleep on the bed with me, should she deign to do so. Might be a hard habit to break  )

Our previous dalmo had a THO when he was 3 or 4 years old. Not as big as a sheepie I know, but he was large for a dalmo and he did fine right up until cancer got him at 12 years of age.

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Cindy, you can not be blamed for this - you were following what you thought were educated opinions of the doctors. Please don't feel you failed Guinness.

We had an FHO done on Drez's right hip when she was 12 yrs old. She healed remarkably well even at her advanced age. She went on to live until she was nearly 15 years old. No reason to think Guinness won't do as well.

Hugs and prayers. :ghug: :plead: :plead: :ghug:
hugs to you all xx
oh glad to know the unknown is over!! That is always the hard part. You can now start to deal with what needs to be done ot get him up an dmoving and healthy. And his picture is lovely.
Sorry that you are going through all of this. Give Guinness a big hug for me!
We are sending hugs and healing vibes to Guinness, and you!

Laurie and Oscar
Lots of hugs and prayers from us. My Allie had both hips done and she did fine. Please don't be hard on yourself. You only did what you thought was best and that's what we all do. :ghug:
