More forum issues

I keep getting messages when trying to log in. They say site busy or try again. What is going on? I can't survive without checking the forum at least twenty times a day

I have been having the same issue for the past few days and it just did it again. Very frustrating. Has anyone let Ron know???? I saw his note about clearing the "history" but I can't figure out how to do that. anyone know what he is talking about???
I know!

I am even more frustrated: not only do I have the same issues, but I am trying to get them fixed while not spreading my viral syndrome illness to my wife who shares an office with me!
 Thank you great one. I know you are working on this problem as you are able. Get well soon, though

Not perfect yet, but tech support thinks they've found a culprit -- a DDoS* on the machine's mail server. I actually told them "Enough is Enough" today when our mailserver was down, before they told me about their progress in finding the root cause of the problem.

Even if we had been moved to a new server, it is likely (nearly 100%) that the problem would have followed us to the new machine as the attack approach is immune to such a hardware change.

I have not been told if it is oes.org or another account that is under attack. Since they didn't mention it to me in their response, it is likely not us sheepdog folks who have angered someone with too much time on their hands.

* DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service, a geeky term meaning a whole bunch of computers are sending many requests to the mailserver in an attempt to disrupt the system by overwhelming it. It's particularly hard to address because you can't just block one evil person, it may come from thousands of computers around the globe.
All better now?
So far no problems which sure beats all the logging off over the last two days.
Thanks Ron
No problems yesterday or today for me :D

Is it really fixed?!! :high5: :high5: :high5: :high5:
working great today :D

Well, it's been fixed by blocking tons of individual IP addresses. Hopefully the attacker won't shift to another set, but Yes! It's fixed.

I hope.

The same just happened to me...but when I checked, my post had gone on the forum just fine...??????
Oh its happened twice now but yes the post does actually display.

But I just noticed that the forum doesnt change from pink to black to let you know that you've already been there so maybe that's the error.

This just happened to me also when I tried to send a PM.
I get that too when I reply to something yet the message still goes through despite that error message.
I got it about an hour ago when I was replying to a post - but it did go through also.

edit - and it did when I posted this!! ack!
Yup, same thing here.
me too when trying to respond to a private message! I'm not ignoring you!!!!
Me too. I don't know if the post went through or not.
I got it too, but my post went through ok.
That particular debug error is happening all over the place and creating duplicate posts too. If you get that error assume your post went through and don't re submit, but just in case it doesn't you can copy the text of your post before hitting submit and if it doesn't go through you can re do it by simply pasting and not have to type the whole thing out again.

I'm deleting as many of the dupes as I come across but I'll probably miss some.

Ron......... your learning SPANGLISH!!! Just like me down here!!!!
Grazia mucho!
Okay i'm posting this here Ron as I am not sure the message i sent you pm has gone out to you.
I am noticing messages in my 'outbox' that some have never gone OUT! 8O

No wonder some people have not answered me or thought i answered them!!!

Help????
When you send a message on the forum it stays in your outbox until it is read. Once the recipient has read the message it is moved to the sent box. So, if a message is still in your sent box it means that the adressee has not opened it.

I love that feature. I purposely don't read many of my pm's until I plan on responding FOR the reason I know they are checking to see if it's read.

LOL - yes, several generations transplanted. I know a smattering, thanks to german language classes in Jr High, as well as our german foreign exchange students that stayed with our family over the years - Katarina, Hilke, Tatjana and Manu.
