An updated review on Kirkland food

Just an update on this food in case other people may be considering it: I couldn't take the gas anymore. It was so bad, we would come home after being out for a few hours, open the door, and the whole house smelled of nothing but nasty farts. No joke. Their poops were okay on it, not great, but okay enough that if it weren't for the gas, I probably would have kept them on it. The gas was really only from the sheepdogs, too. Bear could have gone on eating it but it seems silly to have to have to go to another store to pick up a bag of food just for him. At that point, it isn't worth saving the $12/bag if it becomes a major inconvenience.

Bottom line: we're back on Eagle Pack Holistic and I can stop burning candles and getting woken up at night from stink.

We just changed to Acana; Tonks has always been a very gassy dog, and she seems better on this food than any of our previous ones. Not perfect; but better.
I shop two stores for the dog food here. Yeah, hassle but the end result is preferred.
We have been on Orijen six fresh fish for over a year now and doing VERY well. Poops good, no gas. For us that's a big plus!
Did you use Chicken or Lamb??
Ours had the same problem with the lamb
but, do great on the chicken!
I have gone through two 40lb bags of Kirkland. Dogs like the food but never did get solid poop's. So we are back to Petco for Natural Balance.

FYI, When purchasing 200lb at Petco you get a 20% discount.

We tried both. The stink was the same. :(

Everyone always does well on Eagle Pack Holistic so there's no reason to use different foods. I only switched because of the bigger bags and lower price so I thought we'd give it a go. It just didn't work for us and I wanted to let other people know what we experienced in case anyone may be considering it.
We are in the "switchover" from Innova Puppy Food to Taste of the Wild (Bison & Venison) and so far no problems at all. We never had any with the Innova either.
Sorry it didn't work out Jill. Ours isn't quite that bad (the gas), but agree that there is more. And not just Chewie - Simon has gas too - and he usually does not at all.
Also, we only have tried the lamb and rice, as that is the current rotation. The next round we will switch, so I can update after that as well.
Jill we had that trouble when I was feeding California Natural salmon and sweet potato to all 4 of mine. Some days I thought the house would blow up if someone were to light a match :!: :!: We do well now with Natural Balance, and Taste of The Wild, they are both salmon and sweet potato, but also grain free. We have no stink at all.
In our house we do a 50:50 mix of the two Kirklands for the female GSD and one of the pugs. The female GSD also thinks the cats are for chewing on. 8O  Just when I think that she is accepting them as housemates, she leaves them slobbery. The other pug (Rowan) is with Mojo full time so it seems almost impossible to try to keep her on the Kirkland. She and Mojo are on the Natural Balance Ultra Premium. When Sidney is with us, she eats both - again  She doesn't have any problems with either food but does if she gets snuck table food from the three year old
Mojo gets gas when stressed and it is 10xs worse during clusters of seizures. I think the valium bugs him. :( As I just started a new job, I come home to a house that smells like a dirty bathroom! *yuck* Hopefully Mojo will start relaxing once he is used to the new routine. Right now he is so happy to see us home that he wakes us up ALL the time to say hello.
The other night was hellacious as far as dogs being amped up. I went to work complaining and it turns out there was an earthquake south of here and they were most likely reacting to that!!!
Anyway, sorry about the gas!!! Did they change eating patterns while on it? If they were gulping it down, the additional air they would swallow could also contribute to tons of gas.
