Wow. 6 weeks old is real young. How long has he been away from mom and littermates? At that age my puppies are only marginally weaned and still being fed 4-5 days a day in addition to whatever mom feels like contributing. Lots of small meals. Try feeding him a few more times a day and see if that quiets him a bit. He may be missing mom and puppy piles (sleeping with his litter mates) It's really socially satisfying and soothing.

Is he pooping OK?

Yeah, 6 weeks is too early to leave the litter environment...or Mum. Lots of social skills left to learn, ignore "he is weaned"...he had other lessons to learn first before leaving the pack. Breeder pushing them out too fast.

I agree, more food a couple of tablespoons at a time, some snuggle stuffed animal toys and you. Have you tried a bit of milk on the side? While you want them off the milk since they eventually have a hard time digesting it, right now his body might be comforted by body temp milk.
I agree. Six weeks is way too young to be separated. However, if you are wondering about food intake, you should check out these links.

I stole them from a post in the Mastiff online community...Thanks Mastiff parents! We used these food calculators to make sure our Mastiff puppy wasn't getting too much or too little food. If you know the calories per cup of the food you are giving, this makes it easy to figure out how much food your pup should get all life stages and activity levels. It also helps prevent overfeeding, which can cause health and growth problems in large and giant breeds.

Happy calculating!
