Topping Santa's naughty list ......

Harry!

He has had three incidents since last Thursday chewing up Christmas decorations. Thursday afternoon (for who knows what reason) he took one of the shepherds from the nativity on the hearth and chewed it. Then Thursday night (because we both left him after he had been home all day - I had a work Christmas party and Tim had to work his second job) he ripped up a coffee table type book that I put out every Christmas. When I came home from work Friday, I took him outside while I did some yard work where he ran off lots of energy and then I did some agility with him. Later we went out Christmas shopping, we gave him his dinner as we were walking out the door plus an edible bone to keep him busy. When we came home - dinner was gone and the bone but he had also made time to rip the buttons off of a santa pillow and chew on the potpourri I had in a basket on the table. Since then we have not left him unattended. We took him with us and left him in the car when we met my parent's for lunch on Saturday.

Now Harry has always had separation anxiety. And one thing that has changed with Christmas is that he is being closed out of the front room where the tree with all the breakable ornaments is located. He likes that room because he can sit at the front window and watch for us to come home. I can't trust him in there right now though because when I come home furniture is always out of place which means he will shove anything aside while looking out the window or if he has to roll around on the floor before taking his nap. So the breakable tree would not be protected from the proverbial "bull in the china closet".

But we closed him off from the front room almost two weeks before this happened. I think this was triggered by the night of the Christmas party and he sensed the holiday stress/excitement coming off of us.

I have loaded up on "high value" bones to leave with him when we have to leave over the holidays. Our routine is to walk out the door saying nothing - keeps it calm. Usually he gets his Kong (a high value item that he only gets when we leave) but I will add the bones for the holiday season. As always I will delay feeding him dinner on those nights until we walk out of the door as he will definitely eat. I am leaving the Santa pillow hoping that it will get the brunt of the abuse rather than more cherished decorations should he still feel anxious.

Our last resort will be to crate him but since he has not been hard crated in the house for over three years I hate to upset him further and for him to associate the crate with something bad. Especially since he handles his soft crate so well even though he is overly excited at trials. And using his soft crate in our absence is not an option as he will just break out of it if he is stressed.

I hope all the rest of your sheepies are on the nice list.

Naw.

Sybil's right there with him. Though not Christmas decorations since she taught me not to decorate for Christmas

Apparently they both like coal...

This too shall pass. 8)

Kristine
HEART..... is up there on Santa's naughty list too!!!!

She has gotten the paper towels 3 times this week...and I SWEAR...I put them up by the wall on the counter...

THE only thing I can figure out is that she is cajoling Cosmo with her feminine charms to stand by the counter while she hoists her big butt up on his back to get the prize

Then of course she terrorizes him and aggrevates him, shows him no mercy ...(((after she finishes eating the paper towels of course!!!!!))

sOOOOooooo...not even COAL for Heart this year...after all she will probably like the taste of it....

BUT...Pearl and Coz will get huge... HUGE stockings filled with great things since they are the GOOD puppers..Coz for putting up with Hearts demon ways...and Pearl just cuz she is surviving and thriving !!!!

((MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!)))
Asia is inching her way toward the "naughty" list as well.(so is hubby :)) Hubby left one stick of his kit kat bar in the car...I was wondering what Asia was after as I was driving. I pulled over to the side of the road to investigate and half of the one stick of Kit Kat was gone. I wrapped the rest in a napkin, put it in my purse and thew it out as soon as we arrived home. Other then ot obvious of dogs/chocolate, but chocolate left in a car in Florida...not a good idea.
Harry just had a test since I have removed some of the decorations. The Santa pillow decoy was left out just in case. This is the first time being left alone since his naughty spree because his brother came home from school on Sunday so he has not even been left unattended while we are at work.

Test: Home alone for 25 minutes

Result: Passed :phew:

He will get his second test tomorrow evening when Jack and I are going to a family dinner with some relatives that are in town. Tim will be working. :twitch:
Jeez! I am going to knock on wood here! My 3 have been pretty good. José does like to go into the living room & sniff the ornaments on the tree. I think just because he's very rarely in that room & when he is he likes to look out the french doors & right now there's a huge tree in front of it! But really, other than that, the worst they have done is stay underfoot (literally) while I am in the kitchen trying to make candy & baking cookies! 8O
Well, color me shocked, but I just drove home to meet my dad (and escort him through the hairballs) and after he had inventoried everyone he wanted to know who the "sweet, quiet one was". Imagine my surprise when I noted it was Sybil. I told him so and he said, "so, where's K-Mart"? (Her sister being named Macy, after their first visit to my parents' house he gave Sybil the nick-name K-Mart :? :P ) I said: "That's Sybil! Sybil is K-Mart!" (Where's Kerry for the obligatory "Poor Sybil!" commentary when you need her?  Probably off playing Martha Stewart!   )

He refused to believe me. Heck, I had a hard time believing me and believe instead that she's simply quietly contemplating how to get into the nice freezer bag that transported the smoked salmon... :P

So, so far for sure on the Naughty list we have:
Harry
Sybil
Heart

Have a missed anyone? C'mon people, fess up. Santa needs to know how much more coal to order...

Kristine
Martha.

She is securely on the naughty list.

She unwrapped presents upstairs (LeAnne and Keith's) - LeAnne was worried about Will, and here it was Martha who ripped all the wrapping off and needed to be all rewrapped.
She also has ripped the handles off my work bag and ransacked it 3 times in the past 2 weeks. She climbed up and has gotten into my knitting projects about that many times too in the past couple weeks.
Of course, she always claims the dirty diapers as fair game.....
Frankie is right up there on the list for coal. Maybe Santa will be a little easier on an 8 month old

Frankie has been very good with the tree, but I only put decorations about half way down. The other morning all of my Crhistmas cards were pulled off of the kitchen counter and were laying in the middle of the room. I picked them up. 15 mins later I check on him again and the christmas pillows are pulled off of the couch and laying on his bed. 15 mins after that I go and check on him, and he is laying on his bed with the decorative bed pillows between his feet

Luckily he doesn't destroy them, I should say he is caught before he has time to do that. Shoes, hangers, pillows, socks, anything
Frankie can wrap his little lips around are fair game to him.

So Santa please order more coal for the Ontko Household.

Lisa and Frankie
Is Cedric eligible - even though he is an Irish Setter? Of course I guess he could be on the nice list for making me learn to leave NOTHING out of place - unless I want them eaten

And why Sybil? Is she on the naughty list for being nice? poor Sybil.
I don't know. I think the potpourri was a little tempting. Sometimes I chew it if no one's looking.
Chauncey is on the good boy list this year 8O
We have our tree in front of " his french doors ". He loves to lay there and keep an eye on the neighborhood. I can tell he'd rather not have the tree blocking his view, but he has not touched anything.
Kudo's for Chauncey this year.
It is a given to put Finn and Georgie on the naughty list!!
No Christmas tree here for 2 years now :(
Although I am sure I would have some funny
stories to tell if I tried
Santa's Naughty List to date....

Harry
Martha  (almost to the top of the list)
Sybil
Heart
Asia
Frankie
Cedric
Butterstotch  (although perhaps this should be on the senile list)
Finn
Georgie
Well Willy almost knocked the tree over but it wasn't his fault, it was my daughter's evil cat Church teasing him.
Patch is currently on the nice list - she could care less about the tree or ornaments or anything else. With the exception of chewing a window pane last year when we moved to the new house, she has never chewed. She has always been good about the counter surfing, too. She is definitely on Santa's good list. HOWEVER, just recently she would much prefer doing the do in the sunroom than going outside - the other night twice I went to the sunroom and opened the door (and I usually walk out with her day or night) and she sits down when she doesn't have to go. A few minutes later I smell it - I couldn't believe it. She ran to her room (my office) knowing she misbehaved. i picked it up, the floor is slate so it isn't hard to clean up at all, and showed it to her saying "bad" and then flushed it. I still love her, do do's and all.

No decorations at home, off tonight as too hot to travel today to the farm, we are going to cut a fresh pine for the house up there so we shall see what happens as far as chrissy decorations go

Naughty list was Kelsey nearly destroying the Evil Santa Singing Sheepie a few years back. Will miss her this christmas and all the mischief & fun she got up too. Santa sheepie had to live upstairs at this time of year, not even game to have him downstairs with the terrors, they seem to be taking after there great Auntie, she taught them well :P 8)
He is still alive thanks to upstairs well away from the duo terminators.

NOW just read in the paper the other day how dangerous this time of year is with our 4 legged pseudo goats and those tempting things hanging up all over the house.

A lab ate heaps of christmas decorations and just cost his owner $7000 worth of emergency surgery, so ya better watch out!!!. 8)
Well you can add Baxter to the NAUGHTY list! He has not bothered anything or chewed anything in two years--THIS WEEK he has had a naughty spell. Typically the boys go with me most everywhere except if it is work related--but this week I have had to leave them several times because of Christmas related activities 'that they are not invited'. My office is their domain mostly so I never really worry about them getting into any trouble in there--
The first thing he did was chew up my favorite pair of reading glasses--he has never bothered my glasses before. Then today while I was gone--he counter surfed my desk and threw all of my papers and my datebook in the floor--AND chewed up a gift--a nice cookbook that was not even unwrapped.
They too are always given a high value treat and their food when I leave--the food and the treat were gone too. I have no doubt 'WHO DID IT'!
So you can put Baxter on the naughty list.
Of course the list is getting longer
Santa may get to take the year off
Lola peed on our couch this evening. Fun Fun.
We didn’t even put up a Christmas tree this year because I KNEW she'd kill it.
Put Tiggy and Rastus on the naughty list.

They have a rope tug toy to play tug of war together but yesterday they stole my sock instead. I was working on my lap top and thought they were being good and entertaining themselves.

By the time I realised that the tug toy was lying on the floor and wondered what they were using instead, my sock was very dead.

Also add Rowdy the cat to the naughty list he stole Tiggy's Xmas fairy halo out of the bag that I'd packed it in and killed it all over the living room floor. It started life all sort of feather boa fluffy and ended up all sad and bald and dribbled on. After I rescued my dead sock Tiggy and Rastus finished it off having a tug of war with it.
I'm happy to say that Loki is on the good boy list and has many presents coming. :hearts:

The tree has been up for a week and it's positioned right at the front window where he usually sits and guards the perimeter  It's also right next to the piano, under which is his 'den' (that's where his puffy bed and Mr. Bill stuffie live). He sniffed the tree, looked at me and walked away, and has been using an alternate route to his den.

He has been extra rowdy and playful and did knock the tree over once, but he bumped into it with his big butt and it was really my fault for playing tug in the living room. My sweet boy was just doing what I told him to do. It's an artificial tree and fell over on a chair - Nothing broke, although I will have to re-do the glass beads. Oh well, coal for me.
