Oh, the weather outside is #$%^@*&!

 sing it with me....

Im dreaming of a whiteout Christmas......

Seriously...we are vanishing under an unending dump of heavy snow here. 3 days worth, and I have no idea how many inches (feet?)!

It was so bad last night, that Scott couldnt get home from work till almost 10PM (he gets off at 4!) because the highway between Anchorage and Eagle River was closed due to the heavy snow, and large number of accidents.

On the bright side, this did give him a chance to finish his X-mas shopping!

Lucky for me, I have no need to leave the house today, except to maybe take the dogs for a...um...dig? wallow? plow? :? Otherwise, my only goal is to finish writing/addressing my blasted sheepie x-mas cards. If they never show up, assume we got so buried that I couldn't get to the post office!

Todd's cousin who lives somewhere near you was saying the same thing. He was taking the day off work to drive his wife to her Dr appt today with his 4WD.
These are major outdoors people too - climb the mountains, big game hunt, snowmobile, 4 wheel everywhere. I about salivate every time they post pictures!

Steve was saying there were tons of accidents and save him from the idiot drivers please!

edit - they're on Whirlaway Rd, if that helps!
 Well, I miss that white stuff we'll probably never see again. ...at least the kind that sticks.

Still sucks to be stuck somewhere, and I don't miss driving very slow everywhere and being scared to go down certain neighborhoods (b/c I'd always slide into their lawn and come sooo close to ramming their parked cars).

I don't recognize it, but it sounds like a typical Eagle River Valley street name...they're all things like "Milehigh", "Glacierview", "Nosebleed" "Stuckagain" etc  They are probably on the opposite side of the Valley...it gets even worse weather than we do, since its on a North-facing mountainside. If they are in that neighborhood (off of Highland Drive) then these pics show the area they live as seen from my house. You can just barely make out the main road at this distance...believe it or not, those mountains are covered in houses...even above the treeline! These aren't new picss...all a photo taken today would show is WHITE! 8O I cant even see the ugly brown shed in pic 2 from my window today!

I know it gets to be too much of a good thing - but I'm still jealous!

I know I would never survuve though
I think all that cold weather blood has been drained
from me!
You can send some my way!! I would be happy with a FLAKE or TWO! I really do miss snow--I am one of those weird people who really likes cold weather and snow!
i would swap you in a heartbeat! seriously!!! and it's not because it's hot here either........
What beautiful mountains!
Well we finally got a brief break in our snowstorm yesterday, so I decided to take some new "winter wonderland" photos, for those of you who are dreaming of the stuff  Today is back to white-out conditions again...we got at least another 6 inches last night.

This is the view off of the deck...such as it is...yes, I am very short!

Image
Bert, fresh from a bit of tunneling

Image
Abby...annoyed because I wont allow her to use the deck to go potty, and made her go into the yard

Image
Our house from the driveway...can you spot the two angry, (BARKING!) sheepdogs in this photo? I insisted on shoveling off the stairs before Id let them come down...the stairs had so much snow on them that they were basically a slope! 8O

another view of the deck, from the drive

On this beach, that would be a thermos full of coffee with a shot of whatever you like! (Jagermeister, for us, usually) 8)
Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I also have to say I do love the snow.

Alaska is the one place that me and my husband really want to visit.

We have talked for years about taking a very long road trip to see the state.
