Crazy guy

Well there isn't any tomfoolery around Langley. Last night I was a little hyper and did some little dance moves. He cannot contain himself. He bit me a couple time, little bugger! nothing hard just very nippy. Laika was never like this so I find this new. He will be a year in January. Does anyone else find they cannot do any quick movements around their dogs? I thought he would have been grown out of this by now. I get him to sit and settle. Any other suggestions?

OH sometimes when he is outside playing with Laika he will fly by and sometimes give me a little bite on the bum too!

My two were like that - I was able to put an end to it when they were younger - for the most part. Every once in a while something will get them excited enough to forget and try it again. it usually results in an immediate down (on command - no physical mainipulation involved for all those who are concerned - but this is after a lot of training) for them and everyone else get to continue playing. the lesson seems to stick for a while.
dreamer is the same way every morning he goes to my neighbors house and when he is playing with the other dogs he will run up to her open mount and ram her in the butt she has to explain to her husband why all the back and blues down there
Owen considers every jump an invitation to nip me the upper arm, like super hard pinches. It hurts but it makes me laugh and that eggs him on. If I try to go outside with them when we first get home he does it, too. When I'm smart, I just avoid those situations. Sometimes I forget and then I get munched. However, without fail, Clyde and Bear stop him. They don't like it when he jumps, whether it be on people or a counter. They run him over like juggernauts. I don't know what I'd do without my big boys.
Ah, my male was like that. he would jump up and nip me to the point I had to wrap a towel around my arm so he wouldn't do too much damage 8O I did not encourage it and if possible did grab him and make him sit or down/settle a minute or so. He eventually did grow out of it...sometimes its a stress releasing thing. We found a good run helped.

My baby girl, now 1, is just starting to do the same thing. Only she isn't as strong mouthed. I think alot of it has to do with the herding instince and some dogs have that instrinct stronger than others.
Langley's Mom was like that at that age

She did grow out of it I promise! LOL  She never did it to me but she nipped Kim in the butt a couple of times just being overly excited.
I feel your pain, literally! I had to buy all new pants by the time Sunny reached a year, they all had nip holes in them. I learned that when I went into the backyard, I had to wear jeans, no yoga type pants, she nipped right through those! It settled, just firm consistency and an absolute no jumping up rule. Easier said than done. They'll break it a million time, all you can do in enforce it.

Until then, invest in some thick jeans!
Frankie does the same thing to my husband. He is always jumping up and biting him in the butt. Or he'll get in his face, and I don't want to call it nipping, but acts like he's going to bite him in the face. Mostly if he gets in our bed with us.
I was worried it was a dominance thing. I'm so glad it seems to be normal oes behavior.
