This is getting old...fast. Back to the Vet

My poor dogs are suffering. YES, the darn fleas.

They have been itching almost constantly. I feel so bad for them. I called the Vet again today after finding a flea on Simon's ear as I was brushing.

So after a long talk on the phone, I take the dogs in and we talked some more. He showed me various things I could use to treat the dogs. Talked about getting an exterminater(sp) in to treat the house.

He gave both the dogs a shot of steroids because he thinks it is an allergic response to fleas. We got a two week supply of capstar(treating every two-three days) and if they start itching again within two weeks they will go on the pill form of steroids. I also treated the house for the second time in a month.

This must be the hardy from of flea because I've NEVER had this much of a problem with these dogs.

We are having the same issue here.

My daughter called last because she found a flea on her cat. We were bringing all of the zoo up to stay at her apt this weekend.
I just picked up some more Frontline this afternoon - and they were all treated on Thanksgiving day! Our vet prefers us to retreat with Frontline and have the house treated at the same time (along with our kid's apts). And we got Mycodex Sensicare to carefuly wipe on the cat's face and neck when we see a flea.
We've already decided that we are going to continue Frontline monthly over the Winter.
Get the dogs on lufernon; it breaks the cycle.

Since sometimes this can be a long term fight, getting the lufernon into your dog's systems causes any fleas that do bite the dogs to lay eggs that will not hatch.

As you know, the Capstar will kill the fleas that are feeding on the dog right this instant. It is a very short acting treatment, great for getting the darn biting bastards right now.

Pesticides in the home will likely NOT kill all of the eggs. They are quite hardy and well protected until they hatch.

The lufernon will prevent any survivors from creating the next generation, thus breaking the cycle.

GOOD luck.
I have the same issue with fleas right now. I can't seem to get rid of them and poor SamSun is driving me crazy with all the scratching. Ron, what is lufernon and where do you get it?
How to get rid of fleas from your dog
Try using a spoonful of garlic powder / granules in their dinner 3 times a week, we have done this for a number of years and very little proble with flees although sometimes they do bring one back from shows.
