Poop and Rain

My dogs just will not poop when its raining out. They run outside, pee and run back to the door. I literally have to put the leash on and drag them around a while so they will poop.....

Do others have this problem? I figure if they ahve to go, they will go. But...will they hold it in and cause a problem 8O

Patch does the opposite - she slowly walks out, sniffs the air like she usually does, looks around, barks a few chords, hears something in the trees so looks around again, and all of a sudden realizes it is raining so walks up to the bed where she is to go, and if she has to do the do, takes her time walking around while going, and FINALLY saunters back in the sunroom - and out come the towels. She loves to be dried by the towels, she gets all happy. Can someone tell me if the ancestry of our adorable sheeps have mule in there somewhere? LOL.
Loki won't poop in the backyard, rain or shine, period. Half an acre of fenced in backyard, 3 huge trees, multiple enormous bushes, and the other three dogs all poop back there no problem - Not my big horse. He likes to go out there and patrol the perimeter and pee where the other dogs have peed but poop? Uh uh. He'll only go when he's on a walk, which is why we walk for half an hour to 45 minutes twice every day. He doesn't care if it's pouring when he's walking - He's a happy camper and comes in dripping wet and shakes all over the kitchen. I care, but oh well........anything for the sheepdog.
2 nights ago it was about 32 degrees out extremely windy and just pooring rain. Frankie goes outside he hasn't pooped since the morning, see's the rain running down the gutter on the side of the house takes a drink yuk.... goes out in the yard the wind must have blew up his little stub tail he swings around looks at his butt and runs up to the house. Doesn't poop until following morning . Such a clown....
When I had Suzi she didn't poop for 5 days!!! Took her to the vet and they said they can go a week...of course after the trip to the vet she came home, jumped out of the car and pooped! I was surprised when the vet told me how long they can hold it. Both OES I had would not go out in the rain or snow and go....very picky also where they would go...had to be at the back of the property no matter where we lived. Daisey grew up on 3 acres without a fence, she never left the property and when we moved into a house with a fence in the backyard, for 3 weeks we had to walk out with her in the fenced yard to get her to go...she thought a treat was sitting in the front yard without a fence watching everyone go by. In 13 years she never tried to run off no matter what was happening around her...she was the greatest dogI ever had and so easy to take care of her...the only thing she ever demanded was her dinner at 5...only time she ever even barked!
Kody has no problems with pooping in the rain. In fact I honestly believe that the uglier the weather is the better he likes it...or maybe it's just that he loves fighting his mommy to get him cleaned back up.
I have problems getting Archie out in the rain and he's only half sheepie ! :D We've just moved house and he's thinking the office isn't part of the main house so will poop there if itr's raining outside , it's driving me nuts as it has cream carpet ! plus he NEVER puddled or pooped indoors at the old house even from the first day we got him , he was a dream to house train compared to other dogs we've had .

I guess he just needs time to feel that the WHOLE house is off limits as a toilet for him and he has to brave the rain :D

My two go in the rain. I too think they like to get mommy to clean them - well struggle to get them clean.
Only the min pin and rat terrier are are not thrilled with rain. The rest are more than happy to stay out and get soaked.
Henry just hates the rain and refuses to go out to poop (he pretends it's melting him like the witch from wizard of oz!!!) so we have ordered him some long dog boots and a raincoat! now Lizzie on the other hand is like a pig in mud....she will poop anywhere anytime!

Tiggy is the same. She pokes her head out the back door but wont step out in the rain. When I make her go out she walks along the walls trying to stay under the eaves, then tippy toes across the concrete as though her feet are melting. :D
Marley checks out the window before she will deign to go out in the yard - rain is a NO! Snow, get out of her way!!!!
Sammy was like that!! She hated the rain and would hold even her pee until she couln't take it anymore. No way would she poop either. Every drop of rain was like acid to her. She absolutely refused to go out in the rain! But she never had an accident. Now snow...that's entirely different! Joy!

I thought it was one of her many quirks. Good to hear other sheepies have the same aversion to rain.
