Cold Weather

The temperature has really begun to drop here. In fact, it began to lightly snow last night. I have had Asterisk since she was 8 weeks old. Last year at this time, she was only a puppy, about 7 months old. I remember that she really loved the cold.

In fact, once it was 14 degrees below zero and I couldn't drag her inside. She just laid on the deck and happily stayed outside.

This is my first winter with Wendel. We've had the big guy since June. It seems like he's lost his mind! He barks and dances to be let out. He will wrestle with his sister for a few minutes and then camps out on the deck.

This morning at 3am he hopped on the bed and began to paw to be let out. When I rolled over and put the covers over my head, he ripped the sheets off my body and barked in my ear.

I let him out, he didn't go to the bathroom, he just camped out on the deck.

Does anyone else's dogs behave oddly once the weather drops?

Ollie, our 1st OES lived to be outside. He used to nap on the adironak lawn furniture out in the snow!

Chewie is the same way. He always wants to be out. His love of outdoor winter sports is making me like them too!

Morgan spent the evening outsid e- alone last night after Marely's bath. He usually doesn't liek to be alone at all. Not that it was actually cold, but the weather was changing and I think he sensed it.
Walter drives us INSANE in the winter. He huffs and puffs to be left about about 10 times a night, which is crazy for him since he is a lazy couch dog.

It'll be early mornings and late nights for a while!
Dutch goes into high gear when she comes back in from the cold
It doesnt get that could here, but Tiggy still asks to be outside in the winter. She has a bed up against the back glass and lies out in it just watching what we're all up to in the house. :D

In summer she wants to be in with the air conditioner.

Our dalmo is the opposite. He hates the cold. So in winter he's always in lying in a warm spot and in summer he asks to go out so he can lie in the warm and escape the air con.

I feel like the doorman at a busy hotel. I'm always opening the door to let someone in or out.
Archie absolutely loves the cold combine that with some of the icy winds we have had lately and he is in seventh heaven, apart from when it is blowing up his backside that is  the daft hound is definately turbo charged at the moment, walks go like this step bounce bounce step bounce bounce repeat.......
The colder it gets, the more energy mine have! And I have 2 oldsters along with a young one. :!:
It has been very hot here. But when the temp goes down, the sheepies do not want to come in. They love it. But cold here is 60. We may go into the 50s this weekend.
Samson also loves the snow, if he sees it snowing outside he wants out. He will lay on the porch and just relax with the snow piling up on his back. Yes, he too loves the towel job when he finally comes in...lol. The temperature here is -34 and he still wants out and daily run even if the quad won't start. He had his first experience out on the lake with me kite skiing around and just loved it. I made him some boots and he took right to them and seems very pleased, long sleeve t-shirt completes his wardrobe.[/img]

thats Luna to a T! And I know she'd sleep out all night if she could; I just don't feel comfortable leaving her in the yard without supervision. Tonks also has boundless energy the minute it gets cold. In the summer, our trip to the dog park is 45 minutes or an hour long. This time of year, when I'm freezing my butt off? 2 hours, easily.
Ever since it started snowing I'm out there begging Sybil and Mace to come in. And it's the really wet disgusting stuff. No idea why they like it. Good and regular snow I understand, but this is just gross.

It's good to read others have "nuts" dogs too. Molly goes crazy to go out, sometimes I believe she needs to and other times she just came in.........
She will jump up and down, nip at you, and bark to go out when there is nothing out there. Watching her, she many times just goes on a smelling trip and comes back to the door when she is ready. She figures she owns our dead end street, so it's her territory and she's responsable to patrol.
And I thought Bailee was the only crazy Sheepie around. He is just one of many I guess. He loves it outside also, lies on the deck, holds his head up high when we go for our walks and loves going straight into the wind.
The girls just want to be where we are. I let them out, they do their thing and run to the door. But if we are out working in the yard or on our walk, they are quite happy no matter how cold.
And it is 32 and dropping here.
Chauncey will only stay out for a short period in the summer then it's back to the air-conditioning. He likes to be out in the colder weather but doesn't like a cold wind hitting his backside. He tucks his nubb and squats his butt but keeps on walking. 8O
