cat chasing

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to get my sheepie to stop or at least slow down alittle bit when it comes to chasing the cat. Frankie is 7 mos old the cat has all of his claws, but doesn't use them on him at all. He might bat frankie around alittle bit but never strikes to hurt. Frankies licks him all over and chases him continuosly.
Frankie does mind when I ask him to stop.
Looking for ideas if anyone has any.

Hugs

If the cat has claws and hasn't drawn blood on Frankies nose, and is only batting at him the game may be mutual. Our now OTB, declawed cat, made it very clear who was boss to a black lab ( OTB ) and then to Chauncey. The dogs quickly learned the cat was in charge. I would be more concerned if the cat was declawed or the dog was behaving aggressively. The cat will let Frankie know when he has enough.
Hehe sounds just like Archie!

He loves to chase our cats and lick them within an inch of their lives, there is only one way to stop it, let the cat tell who is the boss, if the cat really didn't tolerate it then it wouldn't come in the same room as your sheepie.
Tiggy too. The cat is her favorite toy!! And she doesnt mind me when I tell her to stop chasing.

My cat does growl and complain but Tiggy's in full coat so she cant feel any claws. I've seen the cat with his paws wrapped round Tiggy's leg biting her and Tiggy cant feel a thing.

I put a baby gate in and a tall cat post for the cat to escape.
He often has a sheepie spit mohawk. 8O
If anyone does have an idea, pass it on to me! lol After attempting to train Nyssa, I have yet to get her to a point where she can be unleashed while the cats are wandering the house. She hasn't hurt them but she has left them wet. They don't yowl when she grabs them but it still scares the crud out of me! Nyssa and Sidney are definitely not cat-lovers. More like. cat-tasters! 8O
 my 2 hate cats! They walk along the wall t the foot of the garden just out of reach, next door has 4 of them as well.!
Well I found out last night ( this morning ) at 12:30am that Chauncey has had an interest in a cat that roams our neighborhood. Bob just forgot to tell me. I found out about this when Bobby came yelling in the door that Chauncey's collar broke and he was loose chasing the cat. Knowing that Chauncey has a gas a** and would sell his sole for a ride, I grabbed my keys. Never mind that I'm in my PJ's and barefoot. I walked out in the yard and called him, shook my keys, and he ran past Bobby and headed for the rear door of my car. Needless to say this won't work again if needed so we jockeyed cars and I took Chaunce for a ride
So you might want to reconsider any previous advice
I do not think Patch was around cats the first year of her life - she wants at 'em with a vengence. I do not think she would intentionally harm them, but has treed a few. The other night I took her to the feed store to have her nails trimmed and this man brought his cat in a crate; he opens the crate and allows the cat to walk around so Patch did the cat stare, then pounced, repeating this several times while I am giving the cat owner a dirty look. Well, he turned his back and the cat was MIA, gone, no where to be found. After an hour he was still looking for kitty - I left so do not know what happened. I was a bit tiffed at the cat man, but do hope he found his cat.
well I finally decided to put up my Christmas tree today :? I wasn't sure if I should or not with the young sheepie and the cat :? Well The cat has decided to lay under the tree so Frankie can't find him. When Frankie chases him he runs directly under the tree. Gosh I hope I didn't make a mistake. I really don't want the tree to take out my husbands flat screen

Wish me luck.

Mine is up on top of a flat topped steamer trunk. Our other dogs never bother it, but with a 7 month old lab pup, I'm really glad it's NOT on the floor!
We have two barn cats who have the run of the yard and one will even come into the garage. When Bella is out and sees that cats she will occasionally go and chanse them a bit. If I see that she is getting a little to roungh I simply say leave it and she backs down and either walks away or is more gentle. The "leave it" works well with the cats or something she has picked up she shouldn't have. She is usually fairly close so that I can enforce the "leave it"by taking the toy or cat away if need be.

I don't think there is a correlation. Some dogs never like cats no matter what and some never care. My guys HATE the cat that has started teasing them on the other side of the radio fence, but take them for a walk and a cat is around and they don't payu any attention at all.
My dog Seamus always chases my three cats. He doesn't hate them, but he wasn't bought up around them, so his curiosity just overtakes. He's already been in emergency for a scratch to the eye (thankfully, no lasting damage!) Hopefully, it is a stage he will grow out of as he's only 8 months old.
Our Sparkey dont thik he has ever seen a cat till we brought him home. He likes to watch the but he doesnt want them to play. He doesnt bark or growl but doesnt like them to go near his food either he will stand right between them and his food. My one cat Leo is very vocal and I think he calls Sparky a few choice names when he does that.
Kody obviously has brain damage and turns deaf when our two cats are out roaming the house. He loves them and thinks that they are his personal play toys. Both of the cats are declawed thank goodness, he has been nailed repeatedly by both...they will box him on top of his nose. All you hear is "Bap, Bap, Bap" and he just looks at them as if to say "Why don't you like me"? I can yell for him to stop or sit and he makes no response as to having heard me at all. The cats just need to learn not to run through the house...if they walk he ignores them...if they run it's "Game On"!! The worst thing that has happened is a few missing hairs on our long haired cats tail...since Kody is so focused on the "Butt Sniffing" that he walks too close and steps on her tail. It is funny to watch them all though...they all try to pretend they hate each other but it is obvious that they don't because they will all nap together on the couch. I just let them be and let them figure it out...so far so good!
I have two cats, 2 maltese, and one 11 wk old oes. My one cat really let him know who is boss when he cornered him in the bathroom. My cats don't have claws either. Now that cat loves to tease the puppy. If it gets out of control I will leash him in the house until he learns not to chasing. We are not out of the kitchen yet since he was sent to me with a very bad kidney infection. It has really been very difficult for me and my family.
