Do you Know you have a big dog?

I had to buy a new collar for my "baby". She is one and a half OES and about 70 pounds. We also ahve her half brother who at 3 years old is about 100 pounds. So we refer to her as "the little one"...

I go to Petco and buy a nice leather rolled collar, 18 inch. I take it hime. Its too small. I go back and tell the lady its too small and need a bigger one. She doesn't know the size I am returning.

I say I need to get a collar for my little one. She starts whowing me the tiny collars. I say, no, the one I am returning is 18 inches. Her eyes get wide 8O ...I thought you said the little one! I say, well, she is little to me! She says, Lady, 20 inches is a BIG dog!!!!

We ended up with the 20 inch. I laughed the whole way out saying I guess you don't know you have big dogs! :D :D

That is funnt. I always call my Aussie, Asia, my little one, even though she is now as big as Violet. 26" at the withers. lol
Yeah, I have the same problem. From collars to e-collars (PetCo doesn't carry large enough sizes, I had to go to the vet), and dog coats/sweaters..our bigger guys are considered freaks. Imagine having to buy for a Mastiff or Newf! I consider my biggest to be "large" not extra or giant, my "little one" is 70 lbs as well.
I just thought she was big because she was "one and a half OES"!

I bought a harness one time for my
big boy who was about 120lbs.
I got a shocked look when I asked
if it was too small could I return it...

Then I bought an XL Coach collar on
ebay and I could wear it as a belt 8O
NOW, I have to find a dog to fit the collar
Tonks JUST hit 67 pounds (I'm so thrilled; she'd stopped growing at 62) And Luna is about 68 pounds. I grew up with 100 pound females, so my girls seem so small to me. At the park, people look at me like I'm crazy; I say stuff like "who's my littlest princess!" and ""come here, little girl" all the time.

I'm sure they look large to other people, and even larger when they insist on playing with Pugs, Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs and any other small breed that will give them the time of day.
:D
My largest GSD is around 120-125 lbs. right now. Not fat, just muscular & thick. My female GSD is 95 lbs and lean. Sidney vacillates (hair, puppies) but I'm thinking she is still in the eighties. My pugs are 25 lbs. (she is fat, what can I say) and 18 lbs. but tiny (very muscular). I think the pugs are itty bitty and no one ever agrees with me. I mentioned to my co-owner that Sidney looks small to me - meanwhile she is the largest of the sheepies that she hangs with! lol I guess I am so used to Mojo (male GSD) that any one else looks small. My neighbors have a bull mastiff and he is about the same size as Mojo - perfect for cuddling, death to food on counters.
i have to lol i call dreamer my little big one he is a yrs and weights over 9o pound and is so tall and alot bigger then his brother but he is still my little one
Same here!

I've always thought my dalmo is small, as compared to our previous dalmo he is. But even my vet looked at me as if I was crazy when I said he was small. Also one of his best friends is a mastiff. Now if you want big you need to meet Axle. 8O 8O Axle goes to a specialist vet who's a bit of a drive away as they have a hydraulic lift exam table and no one can lift the big boy.

People keep coming up to me and asking how I manage "such a big dog" 8O when they see me with Tiggy. I always get a surprise and then point out that she only 1kg more than our dalmo. THAT really shocks people and they realise that a lot of her size is hair.
