Yet another Hudsonism...

Evil puppy has been doing quite well of late. He's finally starting to follow basic commands, assuming nothing else of any interest whatsoever is taking place at the same time. He hasn't destroyed much of anything lately, and is even (finally) learning to pee OFF the deck instead of ON it. This is something we've been working on for many months already.

I've been home the last few days, sick out of my mind. Definitely flu, no idea which one (doesn't really matter I guess). Started with a fever of one hundred and four and now it's down to a mere one hundred and two so things are looking up.

I've shared before that Hudson LOVES toys. He is especially thrilled when he gets a new one. He prances around and carries it everywhere. So, I got him the goofiest looking rat (a squeaker in its head AND a squeaker in its tail! Oh joy!) this weekend. We call him Templeton.

Hudson has been so good to me these last few days. I have been not only bedridden but completely horizontal, too weak to do much more than the occasional trip to the bathroom. I didn't eat for nearly three days, and could only manage some diluted iced tea. He's been snuggling me, kissing my face, and even wrapping his little arms around me in a very hug-like manner. And he's had Templeton on the bed with us the whole time.

This morning my hubby fixed all the blankets over me and left us to go to work. He closed Hudson in the bedroom with me. While he was off the bed I noticed Templeton the rat right by my head, so I reached out and pulled him over, holding him teddy bear style with his little rat head on the pillow and his little rat body under the blanket with me. Hudson returned to the bed, gave me a kiss, and started to walk across to look out the window.

He stopped about halfway there, his ears went back and his face looked puzzled. Clearly he noticed Templeton.

He approached quietly, as if stalking his prey....and let out a small "yelp" as he ripped Templeton from my teddybear hug. He took him to the end of the bed, dropped him over the side, turned around, came back, and snuggled up with me.

I guess there's only so much he's willing to sacrifice for his sick mommy. His favourite rat was just asking too much!

or maybe he didn't want to share his sick mommy with Templeton.
It's OK to share the rat, but how dare you show the rat more attention! Hudson is your #1, you forgot your loyalty.

How sweet you have such a good caretaker. Hope you get over the flu quickly. :clappurple:

I've had the cold from hell, even Harry gets upset with my coughing as it giggles "our" bed, "Mom, can't you be still, you are disturbing my sleep." Otherwise the kids and DH are very understanding of my noise.
I think Hudson just didnt want to share you with Templeton. :D
Hope youre feeling a lot better. Get well.
Ahh he wants his mom all to himself. He is taking care of you. Get well soon!
Hudson wanted to be the only one getting the hugs!!
