How did your pre- holiday morning start

SInce I have to cook tomorrow - and work today - I got up at 5:30, took the dogs for their morningw alk (1 mile minimum) and came home to clean, wash the holiday dishes, fix the turkey brine, clean some more and get ready for work. As I came out of the bathroom I after getting ready for work,I noticed Miss Marley had a wet butt. After checking it out I realized it was wet becasue she was chewing at what appeared to be a huge zit just under her tail bone.

Good thing the vet is on speed dial, they said they could see her right away (before office hours), but hurry because they were booked solid and Curt was leaving at 11 for the holiday - until Monday.

We were there in time (thanks to no school buses as I guess the kids have to rest up to eat Turkey tomorrow), she indeed did have some sort of little infected bump (it was cleaned and she got a shot and pills to take), but after he first looked at it the assistant said - "I'll get the clippers". Curt (vet) just started laughing - "from the shock on Kerry's face I think we need to do this without clipping" (okay I started breathing again)

So I started my day at 5:30 am, got to work an hour late (and $75 poorer) and still have cooking and cleaning to do.

How about you?

LOL - that shocked look 8O - I'm sure I gave Troy (our vet) the same look when he wanted to trim Chewie's foot.

He had a moist, skin burn area that got infected. It was my fault, I didn't rinse a degummer chemical well enough (long story, he got some gummy stuff in his foot/hock hair) and I caused a chemical burn, he licked, etc..... :(

Thankfully, it cleared up and he still had his hair.....and Troy had a good laugh, as he KNEW I would never let him shave that hair!!

*********

Anyway, this is my last day off before I work the whole 4 day stretch of 12 hour shifts, starting tomorrow morning at 7am.
I woke up at 6am with a migraine, so not the best start. Meds helped it go away, 6 hrs later I am doing well and thinking about some dog sport activity.
3pm I have my hair appt, and I think I will squeeze in a pedi too!

The 25 pound turkey is thawing, I bought the groceries last night. Todd and LeAnne will make stuff tomorrow, and we will have a yummy dinner tomorrow after work - with just the immediate family.
Got up at 2 a.m. to finish frosting 2 of my carrot pumpkin cakes. Been going mad trying to get the dogs ready to be boarded. Made chocolate turtles, bathed 2 of the 3 kids, washed sheets (no one likes coming home to dirty sheets!), watched finale of dancing with the stars while cleaning the floor, and now I'm going to make dinner along with some pumpkin tarts. I'm exhausted yet I've somehow found time to eat half a pizza and three pieces of practice cake. I don't know how you guys are handling an entire thanksgiving meal b/c I'm going bonkers just doing desserts for the 2 thanksgivings we'll have in the next 2 days.
Oh, ,and Yuki always has a zit looking bump on her tail, and the vets always dismiss it as nothing. Several. I always wondered what it was. Now I'm starting to think she's eating at her little nub that's there. There's like this huge piece of what I'd describe as dead looking skin that is totally numb (again, just what it looks like to me.. have no idea if it's numb) attached to her nub. She doesn't eat at her tail as much as she used to, but maybe from the years of doing it... it's caused this nasty thing to form.

this was below that and my vet (even thogugh I question everything he tells me) never dismisses anything as nothing if i am concerned. I can't have her chewing at the one part of her coat that passes muster now could I?

What time do you go to bed to get up at 2AM?
usually 8:30-9. I figure many people who stay up late but work early in the morning get less sleep than me. I can never sleep too much past that. That's at least what I always tell mr. j.
^^^ that makes sense I go to bed around midnight and get up between 5 and 5:30 (well in all honesty if the Morgan alarm clock would sleep later both Marley and I would happily doze for an hour or two more mornings) .
I was up at what is for me, a reasonable hour. So around 9 I showered and put on real clothes. Big accomplishment here. I had to write up a letter soliciting donations for a charity auction I'm trying to get off the ground for our area's rescue. Got that done and printed to a half dozen recipients by about noon and had the dogs in the car by about 1pm.

Then..... I spent the next 4 hours in holiday traffic, visiting retailers, trying to drum up some support for our upcoming auctions. I got a couple of nice donations, and more promises of help before our start date. We got home by about 5, and by then it was too late to go to the park (I was a bit tired of being out, to be honest). So I took the girls to play in our neighbor's yard. He and his family are in Vegas for the holiday, and he did tell us the girls could run in his yard "any time". So I took him up on his offer. His lot is about 2 acres, is partially wooded and alot less muddy than my own. The girls had a great time running around and rolling in the leaves.

I played and walked with them, and then did some yard maintenance; pulling up ivy and raking leaves until about 6:30. I napped for an hour, and am about to start baking for the night.

I'll probably knock off around 2am, and then get up around 8 to get the turkey going in the oven.
Did all my prep work, veggies, dressing, deseart ect. Tomorrow just have the turkey and we eat!!!!!
oh guys, it's after 9 pm and I haven't done a thing. I figure if I stay in bed tomorrow it will all go away??????

Oh my!!! I have two batches of cookies done, and am trying to decide do I start a third, get the pie in, or take a break and have a late bite to eat at the 24 hour IHOP???
8O 8O 8O Are you on a sugar high?

Hope you have a wonderful T'giving...all this effort must surely big for a big group.
no sugar high; though I do have coffee brewing. And as dumb as it sounds, I'm cooking for only 4 of us this year. I just love Thanksgiving so much, and can't help myself. And we may have more people stopping over for dessert later in the night.

Adam is keeping me going; he just ordered me a burger from a local pub and is going to get it and bring it home for me. So I don't have to stop baking!
Hmmm, do I dare ask when you start prep for Christmas? Late night hamburger sounds delightful, but alas, my tummy insists on being empty several hours before bed anymore. Drat. So I'll settle for visions of nicely cooked beef, fresh bun and "stuff"...others can think of turkey or sugar plums....or those fresh baked cookies!!
We staretd off our Thanksgiving eve with a new foster gal!

Awwww..holidays, gotta love em!
I am pretty simple and we do not do much BUT, I

Got up at 6 with a (thankfully mild) migraine....cleaned house...brushed the dogs...cleaned some more....finished two special orders (artwork) that had to be delivered today...more cleaning...got a call from my best friend, who, along with her husband, we were supposed to be spending Thanksgiving with...she has strep throat :( ...so no guests for our dinner now...finished cleaning anyway, since it was mostly done.

we'll be doing a very scaled down dinner now (since its just Scott and I) and watching DVDs all day. In a very clean house

I am SO envious of how much you got done!!! I needed to do all those things too, and didn't.
Nothing out of the ordinary here. Got up, went to work, came home & took José to obedience & agility class. Home by 10PM. Today I bake my pies, cook the sweet potatoes & get the biscuits ready. Had everything planned just right & my son called to tell me he just found out there were about 8 extra people people coming that he hadn't known about. So he offered to bring me more sweet potatoes & biscuits. I suppose I'll have to argue with him today about him taking $$$ for what he brought me. He won't want me to pay for the extra stuff. Dinner is at 3PM so I have time to get things done around here today & play with the dogs too.
