Black Friday Shopping?

Mrs J, you're right. Too Quiet!!!

Who's going and "what time"?

Again I work. No problem for me as I avoid the mass hysteria.

I think I'm going to go for the first time ever! I want to hit up best buy and see if I can find the video game Dave wants for cheap. Don't know if I can stomach much more than that.
I totally can't handle that sort of parking, lines, and people! I do all my shopping on amazon and ebay. I saved on gas, time, and mass germs. Nothing beats that ;) Otherwise, they ain't getting it. Besides I'm broke after buying all the family gifts. No room to spoil myself this year.
Always. I don't even need anything but I'm going.
Wouldn't be caught dead shopping on that day! I'll gladly stay home & put up the Christmas tree!

AMEN! That is my Christmas Cookie Baking- put 'em in the freezer day :) I hope it snows!
I'm a cyber-Monday person. By the time I spend all those hours in line, the item is no longer a deal.
I worked mall retail as a manager for years. I always swore if I escaped the mall, I'd never be caught there adding to someone's misery on Black Friday. So far, I've kept my word.
I stood overnight many years to get expensive presents inexpensively and now over the last 5 years or so I have tried all sorts of bribes to get my lazyass and spoiled nieces and nephews to do it for me. They are lazy and/or spoiled and/or patheticly ungrateful. They sure do like the gifts from aunti and uncle though.

We don't give presents for adulation, but.... Ya know?
When my girls were middle school and high school age we loved a day out shopping in the madness and having lunch together....after they left home I haven't gone since...I also shop on the Internet more....easier to compare prices and get the best one and they offer free shipping so often...enjoy decorating the house now on Friday after turkey day. This year I'm decorating this weekend as I will have a 18 month old to play with...not good for decorating but so much fun as she is so cute right now! Don't know how you do it Mrs. J. with 3 little ones! I have already gotten everyone's presents...so excited that I was able to get Zoe Sid the Science guy talking doll...she LOVES Sid! I love finding gifts I know will be special and often find them in July. My Mom has always had poodles and found her a purse and wallet with a poodle that looks like her Benjie...she will love it!

You might be better off buying the game "on line". If it is a newer game, sometimes the stores only get a few in. This has been my experience in purchasing the next "big" game. Also, you can "prebuy" new game releases before their release date to make sure you get one.

Good luck!
Definitely going!!!!
There are shopping outlets not too far from us that open at midnight, we'll be there. They even give you a gift bag with extra gifts and coupons if you show up in jammies (have to find some cute ones). My sister and I plan this every year. So after we finish there, we'll head to Kohl's, Target, and Walmart in that order, unless there is something REALLY good in the flier.
I love the people watching, and yes, I know it is crazy to be out at that hour to shop, but I LOVE it.
Ron, I would shop for you anytime! !
I go about half the time. Last year I got really good deals. This year I also am working, so no shopping craziness for me!

Is it Woodbury Commons? I LOVED those outlets when I lived in NJ. I would also be there at Midnight in my PJ's if I still lived up there! (conveniently, I don't consider outdoor shopping villages the same thing as "malls", so it doesn't violate my rule against going to the mall on Black Friday).

Nope, these outlets are in Lee, MA, not far from Albany, but same idea I am sure!
There's is nothing I need so badly that is worth getting in line (at any store) at 5 am. I usually work the day after Thanksgiving but this year I'm taking off to watch a George Morris clinic (he's the god of hunter/jumper riders).

And I'm not buying Christmas presents anyway. I'm exchanging presents with one friend and I bought her present in August. So I am officially done!
This will be my husband and mine's second year going out on Black Friday. Out at 4:00 am after having a quick breakfast and coffee, sitting in the parking lot waiting for the stores to open, then after shopping, breakfast at our favorite restaurant. After years of not being able to do this, we really enjoy it.
I'm with Mrs. J............on-line and let the cute UPS and Fed X guys deliver the gifts!

I hate shopping. I hate crowds. Any must do's I schedule to avoid as many people as possible. I used to do WalMart at 5 a.m. Now I'm too lazy and wait until 7 a.m. Costco/Sams....I'm out before 11. Shopping mall? Three weeks ago was first time in 8+ years and then needed a drink when I got home

Oh I was there yesterday and the staff at the stores were funing about that "sale" (they swear the deals are no different than people will get thna anyother time - infact there was some talk that they were busy raising prices ot get ready for the "sale")

It was enough to convince me I wan tto stay warm and toasty in bed after all that Turkey :)

I almost always volunteer to work that day - its a nice day to clean off my desk
I heard that Walmart will let you order their Black Friday specials starting at midnight Thursday; they are trying to avoid a repeat of last years trampling. Does anyone know if this is true?
